Description
This is a consolidation between my two main modlists, with each built around a specific overhaul, either Covert Infiltration or Long War of the Chosen. This modlist is instead built around the core game without overhauls.

Acknowledgements:
-- Requires all XCOM 2 DLC, including War of the Chosen.
-- Modded setups tend to be incompatible with the Lost & Abandoned mission option when starting a new game. In my tests, the mission actually worked fine on my first playthrough, then repeatedly soft-locked on every attempt thereafter. The tutorial is also incompatible. The tutorial is mostly playable but ultimately crashes when attempting to generate the post-tutorial mission to secure a component for the Avenger. However the two DLC missions, Alien Nest and Lost Towers, have consistently worked in my tests.
-- Use Alternate Mod Launcher for XCOM 2, as Firaxis is a little better at making games than mod managers. Using AML increases mod compatibility and game stability tenfold, and also communicates to you when there are conflicts or missing mods. There is one conflict in this modlist and a few missing dependencies, these are normal and work perfectly fine in the way this modlist has been set up.
-- More mods means more data to load, resulting in some longer load times (at least when starting the game), so allow the game some time to start up even if it looks like it is freezing. Add "-log" to your Active Arguments in Alternate Mod Launcher's Settings menu to see what's going on in the background while the game is launching, it will show a DOS box detailing everything it is doing leading up to the main menu.


The Experience:

-- This modlist is entirely plug-and-play, no specific settings or configurations are required for a seamless experience.

-- Unchanged from the core game, the Strategy Layer (geoscape) will present periodic opportunities to conduct missions, offering rewards for their completion. However skipping missions will no longer penalize XCOM or speed up Avatar Project progress. Advent facilities now appear across every region simultaneously. XCOM starts the game with the increased wealth of a full fledged faction (including more Resistance Cards), and multiple covert actions can be performed simultaneously after upgrading the Resistance Ring.

-- A terrifying Lost presence. No longer mindless zombies, the Lost are now comprised of a chaotic force of powerful mutants, rogue aliens, dark psionic cults, and abandoned science experiments. The Lost now represents those with no place to call their own, twisted by the nightmares beyond the fringes of civilization in a post-invasion world and organized into a dark army capable of overwhelming small territories.

-- A world of factions. This war involves more than just Advent and XCOM, and no attempt at world domination is without repercussion. Rogue outlier factions and civilian gangs are constantly fighting for survival and personal gain, with no reservations about who they fight to get what they want.

-- An overhauled selection of soldier equipment. Sacrifice mobility for armor or equipment slots, or sacrifice total health for mobility. Armor is now modular, allowing handcrafting of the desired loadout for a soldier. Choose starter ammunition types to further specialize soldier capabilities. All weapons and items are universally upgraded, but cost a significant sum, and several unique types of equipment can only be acquired from Advent loot. A full arsenal of gadgets and trinkets add further personality and specialization to perfect your soldiers' roles.

-- Realistic Avenger operations. Lily Shen can now serve as one of your engineers personally. Facilities new and old have been overhauled with powerful new mechanics. There are a variety of trinkets to collect from all throughout the game, awarded for recruiting faction heroes, excavating the Avenger, defeating certain enemies, etc. The Infirmary can be upgraded to bring a soldier back from the dead or infuse soldiers with alien genetic mutations. The Workshop can be upgraded to sculpt soldiers into cyborg hybrids between human and machine.

-- An overhauled Tactical Layer. Armor can now negate all damage without a damage minimum, making armor penetration or high damage weaponry much more important for everyone. Aiming logic has been enhanced with more detailed distance, elevation, and angle bonuses and maluses. XCOM units now have a scamper maneuver, wherein all soldiers who have already spent their turn will gain a limited movement action upon the activation of a new enemy group, allowing slight adjustments to otherwise exposed positioning. Every soldier is now capable of unarmed combat, capable of striking, stunning, or even knocking out opponents with the right combos. If Advent overwhelms you, you can order your units to surrender and be taken in alive. Evac has been overhauled to behave more like a risky getaway vehicle, allowing you to freely place the evac zone but costing an action to carry out an evac.

-- Soldier classes are numerous and chosen by you upon soldier promotion from Rookie, allowing you to further customize your soldiers' progression. Soldier Class now always respects your settings in the Character Pool, giving priority to the class you assign your saved characters.

-- Alien forces have been overhauled both aesthetically and mechanically. ADVENT is now comprised separately of both aliens and humans as well as the standard hybrids, most operating under the more utopian colors of their new world order. There is extreme enemy variety as well as partially randomized stats for most enemies, leading to surprises at every turn and a renewed focus on learning the intricacies of the game mechanics over outmaneuvering cookie-cutter enemy types. Alien Rulers have also been overhauled, including a human general, an alien warlord, a walking fortress, a viper dynasty, an enhanced war machine, and even a horrific science experiment gone wrong that now resides among the Lost.
