Description
Samurai Class for WotC

The samurais weapon are primary sword, dual swords (or other melee weapons if you insist) or sword and a ballistic shield.
To compensate for the missing ranged weapon he starts with two utilty slots.

Melee kills build up Focus which can be consumed to activate the samurai's signature ability Shinigami and special melee attacks.

Custom Perks
  • Shinigami (Each time the Samurai kills in melee he gains 1 focus point. When activated none of your melee attacks are turn ending. Activation consumes 2 focus.)
  • Hawkeye (+15 critical hit chance and +3 critical damage for melee attacks)
  • Way Of The Samurai (+3 damage and +10 hit chance with melee weapons)
  • Unstoppable (Melee attacks never graze.)
  • Danger Sense (Tracks movement within 20 meters. Can't be suprised be faceless or burrowed cryssalids)
  • Training Discipline (Provides +3 mobilty and +20 dodge.)
  • Yamabushi Heritage (gain +1 armor, +15 defense and can regenerate 2 HP per round, max to 6 HP)
  • Shigurui (When wounded in battle get 1 additional action point, +80 dodge and +50 crit chance(melee only) for 1 round.)
  • Dragon Strike (Unleash a terrible strike upon your enemy, that does aoe damage and can disorient survivers. Consumes 1 focus point.)
  • Whirlwind Strike (Perfom two slashes at the target. Each has an aim penalty of -15. Consumes 1 focus point.)
  • Sword Thrust (Special melee attack that pierces most armor and applies rupture to the target. Consumes 1 focus point.)

The author hasn't been replied for a few years and one required mod is depreciated but switching to the newer Primary Secondaries would be good

Agree with @Atmus81 below. The class is nice and well made, but the crit chance and damage are bonkers. Which makes turns where you use Reaper just a streak of kills until you fail that crit chance. Fixed that, it would be a really great class.

I haven't tried this myself, but in the XComCommandersChoice.ini you can find ''sForceIncludeClasses ='' at the very bottom.
Maybe if you change it to
sForceIncludeClasses = Samurai
it will work?

idk why but i have commanders choice and all the right mods (even the updated primary secondaries and the new promotion screen) and the samurai class just is non existent idk why that is

i have this weird visual bug that shows a katana on the back that is never used on my samurai units but only when thet are on a mission, theyre fine on the avenger.

any idea why? it has no effect on gameplay but i'm curious why this happens.

What I found to work for Shinigami Focus:

In Wotc Samurai Class mod, I went into XComClassData.ini and added:

(AbilityType=(AbilityName="SwordSlice_LW", ApplyToWeaponSlot=eInvSlot_PrimaryWeapon)), \\

under the squaddie section as was previously suggested.

Then in XComGameData_SoldierSkills.ini, I added:

+FocusKillAbilities=SwordSlice_LW
+FocusKillAbilities=MusashiLightningStrikeT1
+FocusKillAbilities=MusashiLightningStrikeT2
+FocusKillAbilities=MusashiLightningStrikeT3
+FocusKillAbilities=Bladestorm

This gives me focus when I kill with fleche, quick slash, and bladestorm. I hope this works for other people.

i see that shinigami focus is bugged. it grants its +to crit ability 4 times raising crit chance to 70% and crit damage to +9 or so

For some reason, the samurai has ridiculous crit damage and has 70% chance to crit. i ran some test and regardless of what melee weapon i use, even a rookie samrai crits add +11 to damage. this guy just soloed a riftkeeper by hitting him twice for 24 damage each and then bladestorming him when riftkeeper tried to move
