Description
Update: vortex weapons are back!

Needs War of the Chosen Expansion
For silent takedown on ninjatos you need the mod Wotc Stealth Overhaul


Higher tiers are unlocked when you buy the coresponding vanilla sword tier.
There are no additional costs.

There is a config value if you only want cosmetic variants which have no stat difference to the vanilla swords
just set
bNinjatoIsCosmetic=true
bKatanaIsCosmetic=true
bWakizashiIsCosmetic=true
(Default is false)

This mod should work on existing save games.

First and most i want to credit Escrimator.
The energy and plasma katana models, all wakizashi and all ninjato models and all sheaths are his work.

FAQ

Q: I don't see the mobility bonus in the UI/Ninjato don't give mobility bonus?

A: Remove the relevant lines in XComUI.ini and you will see the mobility bonus.
The downside is it will show the swords aim bonus on your soldier then.
Nothing i can do about that.

Just a question. Katana read "pierce 3" so it should ignore at least 3 armor if the target correct? Asking because seems armour is fully coubtend when shash with the katana.
Don't know if is a mod conflicting anyway

hey any reason why katanas don’t trigger blademaster anymore? it doesn’t trigger extra damage or say blademaster when using slash. I use them in the primary slot if that helps

FYI; Musashi retired from modding xcom 2 (3?) years ago. So unless he comes out of retirement, what you have here is what you get.

Does the Wakizashi count as a combat knife for stat bonuses?

After some trial and error I was able to get it working by adding the lines
+StealthAbilities=(AbilityName=MusashiVoidStrike, bAlwaysKeepConcealment=true, WeaponCategoryRequirements=(sword))
+StealthAbilities=(AbilityName=VoidStrikeFleche, bAlwaysKeepConcealment=true, WeaponCategoryRequirements=(sword))
to the StealthOverhaul.ini in the ability list.
I kind of expected this to already be there, going by the ability's misleading description...
