Description
"Commander, R&D has finally finished that project, after the many delays, we managed to get two of the Experimental SPARK Units operational. Unlike the other SPARKs we have that share multiple systems, these two are a bit more unique. They sport custom chassis to improve their combat effectiveness and some new equipment that we had to develop specifically to keep up with their combat prowess. We've already copied their cores and are able to produce more at your will. Additionally we have more Units in development, but until those get passed testing, these are all we have for now."

Introducing the SPARK Unit Pack, including two new SPARK Classes and over 20 custom abilities between the two classes. The SPARK Breacher excels in Close Quarters Combat; with its Breach-Loading Shotgun, a devastating single-shot close quarters weapon, and its Integrated Auto Pistol to attack those that are further away. The SPARK Guardian specializes in controlling the battlefield, whether through attacking its enemies with its Heavy Machine Gun, or through defending its allies with its Ballistic Shield.

SPARK Breacher Ability Set

SPARK Guardian Ability Set

GTS Perks:
  • None - As of current, this class has no GTS Perks.

Compatibility/Recommendations:
  • Shield Rework - Changes the SPARK Defender's shield to not provide Shield HP and only provides Armor and Dodge, very nice.
  • Damage Calculation Tweaks - Changes how Armor works, I advise using this if you have modded enemies that can Shred Armor.
  • Covert Infiltration - Only compatible if you also have the Compatibility Patch. Should also work for mods that make items single build, but has not been tested.

Issues/Conflicts:
  • SPARK Breacher's "Integrated Auto-Pistol" attacks play the XCOM Soldier Heavy Weapon animation.
  • Grenades thrown by the SPARKs play the XCOM Soldier Grenade Throw animation (general SPARK bug).
  • Valkyrie Protocol has you punch your ally in the face (no damage is dealt, but this is an issue with the way the targeting is).

Credits:
  • Chawmander - Wrote/Planned all abilities and weapons for the SPARK Guardian and its Localization. Additionally got the mod back on track after its delay.

  • Shiremct, MrCloista, and Dies Irae - I learned a lot by looking into the code they have made and learned how to make my own class because of it, they all make really cool Proficiency Classes.

  • EvilBob22 - Kindly provided new icons for the SPARK Breacher and SPARK Guardian.

  • Iridar - Helped fix multiple abilities and the Breach-Loading Shotgun.

  • Tedster, Rusty Dios, & H4ilst0rm - Helped fix individual abilities.

  • FearTheBunnies - Found the issue that prevented the SPARK Breacher's Shotgun from upgrading to Magnetic Tier.

  • Everyone's mods that mine requires - Literally couldn't exist without them, they are talented modders.

Closing Notes:
This mod underwent a major delay after burnout, but finally after months, it is here. I haven't been able to widely test everything in this mod, there may be a few bugs. I plan on updating this pack with more SPARKs in the future, but for now, enjoy the SPARK Breacher and Guardian.

Additionally, this mod has not been majorly tested mid-campaign, I recommend starting a new campaign for the least amount of issues.

@Worgan_Freeman Make sure to keep notes of what you have changed so it doesn't completely ruined what you have made whenever mods such as this gets updated.

Take your time and do whatever you feel like. Your mod is still a staple in my current mod setup and both SPARK classes are very fun to use. I also looked into the files and tinkered with some setting myself.

@Worgan_Freeman I have spent a long time designing the class as I intended, but never have gotten much field testing due to how many projects I keep working on. The class is meant to be more of a "snowball design", as the later you get the more severe power increase it gains, but I can see the problems with this in general.

I might plan on doing some improvements for the SPARK Breacher whenever I get to working on the SPARK abilities for my perk pack.

I feel like the SPARK Breacher is wayy to squishy since the AI always focuses the SPARK unit. With 0 defence, picking up the Shelter Protocol ability feels mandatory and even then your unit goes down really quickly unless you always position it in a way where enemies dont have LOS (which is difficult if the SPARK needs to be in close quarters to do damage). Which also means that you need to be smart with your AP for movement but with the constant need to reload your 1 ammo shotgun, it feels like skilling into full autopistol is a much more effective way overall

For me the class feels like a inferior version of the SPARK Artillery from the other proficiency SPARK plugin. High single target damage but the Artillery punches through cover, has really high aim and can stand far away from the enemy.

As of the most recent update, the issue involving the SPARK Breacher's Shotgun (and the SPARK Guardian's HMG) should be fixed.

Every other spark weapon is working fine ( even the Iridar Spark Arsenal ) :steamhappy:

And then I Somehow managed to do something with the WSR but in the end I'd didn't work out
So I was forced to Resubscribe :steamsad:

Don't know where is the problem
If you can take a look I would really appreciate it

@attiladuran123 I thought this issue was fixed, I'll do a check on the code sometime soon and see if I can find out the issue with the current build.

Hi there , I need help

Don't know why but the Shotgun for the Breacher class don't upgrade ( I mean the weapon )
Even when I have the Magnetic Weapons or the Beam , they are still the same

I trying to fix it with config edits , but not worked ( and I tryed to resubscribe but still don't work ) :steamsad:

@Caballero No Muerto This is likely due to a previous issue with the mod, if you save is prior to the February 26th update and you already unlocked Magnetic before the patch, it most likely will not be fixable without a new campaign.

I haven't had a long term campaign since the release of this mod, so I currently don't properly know if everything works for the Breacher's primary.
