Description
What?
Stun lancers, berzerkers, mutons, Rulers, etc. abilities KO chance has been replaced with another stun.

Stun Durations & Abilities that get their KOs replaced are configurable in XComGame.ini, along with commented out examples for other mods.

Some Examples:
Vanilla Stun Lancers can Disorient, Stun (1 AP) or KO.
- With this they can Disorient, Stun (1 AP) or Stun (2 AP).
Vanilla Muton's Counter can Disorient, Stun (2 AP) or KO.
- With this they can Disorient, Stun (2 AP) or Stun (3 AP).
Vanilla Viper King has a % chance to KO a bound unit.
- With this he has the same % chance to Stun (6 AP) a bound unit.

But isn't there already a bunch of mods that do this?
Well yes, but there is a problem.

I've personally always used ADVENT Avenger's Impairment Rebalance WOTC, but the numerous times my units have been KO'd by Stun Lancers led me to investigate further...

The way ADVENT Avenger made that mod was by remaking a piece of vanilla code, which meant other mods can overwrite it's changes just by copying the same bit of vanilla code.
It may have been the go-to way to do these things back in the pre-WotC days, but not so much anymore.

Then I took a look over my installed mods, and saw that Bio Division 2.0 also copies the same bits of vanilla code into their ability templates.
So what was happening to me was that Bio Division overwrote the changes made by Impairment Rebalance, making Stun Lancers able to KO again.

In short this mod:
  • Doesn't remake complete abilites, just tweaks existing ones improving compatibility.
  • Checks for Unconscious Effects in certain abilities and replaces them with Stun Effects. The Viper King also needed some special Activation Condition tweaks.
  • Is compatible with the ruler changes made by Impairment Rebalance, so running both mods simultaneously is fine!

Instant KO was so annoying

One time had 2 Specters + 4 stun lancers.
2 Specters knocked out 2 of my team
stun lancers knocked 2 of my team.

Had 2 guys remaining after 1 turn.

unconscious is by far the MOST annoying effect used against XCom thank you for making this

Not sure if you're still doing any XCOM modding, so feel free to ignore this if you've moved on but... you did say to tell you if we find enemy mods that don't get caught by this. "Viper Pull and Bind Rework" seems to be one, looks like it's implementing it's own stun/KO table if I parsed the code right.

thanks for this. I would rather my guys DIE than get knocked out. Especially by say a Berserker queen.

This does not remove the "target limits" from Ruler abilities, meaning the stuff listed under TRADEOFFS in Impairment Rebalance's description.
