More Will Loss [WOTC]

Description
Inspiration

While browsing through the workshop looking for a mod that would force/encourage me to use more of my barracks, I noticed that there were a few mods that scrapped the will system entirely. However, I didn’t see any mods that made the will system more aggressive. I took this as my opportunity to create a mod that would apply the ‘tired’ effect to soldiers much more often. With this mod you often won’t be able to use the same soldier in consecutive missions--unless they get through the mission with hardly any will loss.

Changes

  • Made soldiers acquire the tired effect at 96% will as opposed to 67%
  • Made soldiers become shaken at 70% as opposed to 33%
  • Increased the recovery times of each effect to make them last longer

Recommended Mods

Since your soldiers will be out more often and for longer periods, I recommend the following mods:

More Starting Soldiers (WotC)
All Soldiers Gain XP - WotC

Make sure you configure those mods to make them fit your game because they may be a little OP by default. I'd recommend putting All Soldiers Gain XP at 25% as opposed to 50%. If you don't want to use More Starting Soldiers, I'd recommend lowering the prices of rookies by about 10 supplies, or just reducing the amount of soldiers that mod gives you.

If you want some progression, [WOTC] Soldier Development is a good one because your soldiers can get a boost to max will upon completing excellent or flawless missions.

Core Room Slots allows you to staff four soldiers into the bar to speed up will recovery.

Configuration

You can edit values in XComGameData.ini of the mod. Folder should be named "1616925948."

"For anyone using this with larger squad sizes and more enemies, I would recommend lowering the shaken to 60%. This will prevent your soldiers getting shaken on some standard missions (especially if the lost are around) but will still result in soldiers becoming shaken if you take them out for two missions in rapid succession or if things go wrong (a few soldiers are wounded or someone dies)." (~via Ethereal in the comments)

Compatibility

Obviously, this mod will be incompatible with any other mod that changes will percents and recovery times.

Known Issues

Sometimes a soldier will receive a shaken or tired debuff, but it will have no duration, therefore running out as soon as you enter the geoscape. I'm fairly sure this is a base game issue so I don't think I can fix it. It's not too common though, so I wouldn't worry about it.

My Other Mods

[WOTC] One Nation
Long War Loading Screens for WOTC
Alien Color Variety [WOTC]
ADVENT Death Trooper [WOTC]

In case anyone else would like the opposite and only found this mod due to other mods not using the key word 'tired'.

Complete Elimination:
No Stinking Fatigue: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1131803305
No More Will Loss In Combat: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1219670692

Different System / Counter System:
[WotC] Per-Turn Will Loss: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2356606150
[WOTC] Morale System: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2242584900

Just reduced:
None. Personally, I would have just liked to reduce 'Shaken' and 'Tired' length to a week and a weekend respectively but alas there doesn't appear to be mod for just that. Rather one has to quickly modify the GameState(dot)ini oneself (just Ctrl+F 'tired', 8-14 days for tired is just ridiculous). I do recommended to rather reduce than increase that when using mods like Covert Infiltration which add many more sources for fatigue.

Love the mod. Gives you actually a reason to have a large roster.
Kudos <3

I was hoping this mod simply increased the will loss, not just modified the tired/shaken thresholds. I'm still trying to find a way to make losing a bondmate cause a soldier's Will to be instantly reduced to zero. Oh well, my quest continues. :)

Really like this mod, but I found a major problem. Wounded soldiers come back early than fatigued soldiers, mainly after you have a infirmary with a engineer.

Really enjoy this mod. Makes a larger roster important. Negative traits become something to actively manage. Pairs well with Oni's infirmary+ mod to allow you to upgrade the number of soldiers to two who can actively undergo negative trait recovery. I did not make Ace's recommended ini changes for larger pod sizes, and play with pod sizes 1.5 times larger than legendary, but be sure to balance your campaign.

This happens to me too, but I don't think there's anything I can do to fix it. I believe it's a vanilla bug, but since more soldiers get tired with this mod, it's more common.

I made a post earlier about soldiers coming back with "Shaken: --- hours" that are immediately healed when opening the Geoscape. I removed it on suspicion that it was something to do with the Reliable Wounds mod, but I've removed that mod and the issue persists. I'm running Core Room Slots, but that doesn't seem to be the issue (the soldier is not in the bar). This is all using WOTC and WOTC versions with DLCs enabled.

I'll post if I find it, I think it must exist since there is a dark event which increases XCOM's will loss in combat. As it stands though I think this mod of yours effectively solves the issue of having high will and makes it meaningful to gain more. Tq!

I was even forced to take a couple of tired soldiers on a chosen stronghold mission and they came back shaken at 0 will and disorders!!! yay :D (All 6 were shaken)

Not within this mod, no. But you could look through the base inis and try and find it. @Dark Templar
