Description
Posthumous Chosen Risk Configuration

Abstract
Exposes to config the interaction of risks on covert actions and the Chosen. By default, ambushes will persist even after the Chosen's death, while captures will cease.



How does this work?
By default, covert actions for a faction can get risks based on whether the opposing chosen is alive or not. In the base game, injuries are not tied to the Chosen, while capture and ambush can only happen while the opposing Chosen is alive. This mod makes it all configurable, including the option to never have one of these risks (effectively removing it from the game). So you can either make the game easier by removing all covert action risks for good, or make it harder and make capture chances and ambushes persist even after the Chosen dies, or anything in between.

The images in the mod description depict a configuration where injuries are removed, ambushes are removed with the Chosen's death, and capture chance persists forever.



Configuration
The configuration is controlled in XComGameBoard.ini, with details instructions given therein. The reader needs to supply a pair of the risk name and the desired behavior of this risk. The names of the base game three risks (injury, ambush, capture) are included in the mod. No need to add configuration for risks you don't plan to change. If there are are modded risks, then they can also be configured. However, only one of three behaviors can be applied at this point - Always On, Always Off, and Dies with Chosen. If there's another behavior you might want to use, let me know, and we'll see what can be done.


Known Issues
If you allow capture after the Chosen is dead, then the Chosen will still taunt you about it from beyond the grave. You should get the mission to free your soldier from the Chosen as usual (in fact, this can also happen in the base game, you can get a soldier captured and free them only after the Chosen is dead).




Required Mods
All the required mods are strictly required. (wait a second...)



Compatibility
  • Was tested with Covert Infiltration. Probably also works without it.
  • Long War of The Chosen - untested. In principle it might work, but LWOTC prevents capture chance by default, so there be some conflict there.
  • Modded risks - for example, raider ambush from various raider factions - untouched, and doesn't quite make sense to touch them, but it can be configured to affect them too, if the reader so wishes.
  • Covert Action Config - from my limited understanding, these should be compatible, as that mod does not directly touch what this mod does.
  • For the sake of clarity - this mod is not actually compatible with the game "Risk".

sweet, so I can force ambushes to still occur after defeating all the chosen.
