This is a Support Strike mod, inspired from several games (same name in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Tatical aid in World in Conflict, etc.) where you can call in strike packages to destroy units on the field, or help the player gain an advantage over the enemy. This mod attempts to bridge that gap by implementing some Support Strikes while fitting it within XCom's gameplay.

This mod only has 3 Support Strikes implemeted so far: Mortar Strikes, A-10 Strafing Run, and the Ion Cannon. There were gonna be more but I just don't have the time or motivation anymore, so I decided to release what I have so far. Right now it works without much issues on a vanilla playthrough. Heavily modded playthroughs may have issues.

HOW IT WORKS

To use Support Strikes, you will need to go to the Guerrilla Tactics School and spend resources on the Support Strike you want. This is temporary until the Strategy Overhaul is completed.

Support Strikes allows you to alter the battlefield in a significant way, but there are several drawbacks that you will need to consider when using them.
  • Most Strikes require open skies. Underground or alien structures that are enclosed do not allow any sort of support strikes.
  • Support Strikes takes time to arrive to the battlefield, so you will have to time your strikes appropriately.
  • All Support Strikes cost Intel to perform, and gets more expensive the more times you call in strikes. The costs reset every month.
  • Mortars saturate an area with explosives, but are hardly accurate.
  • Smoke Mortars can provide a standard defense boost in a large area.
  • AH-6 'Little Bird' can drop reinforcements into the area, which are controllable by the player.
  • A10 Strafing Run is very accurate but costs more intel and requires the aircraft arrive in the AO before it can be used. Strafing Runs can be used once per turn, up to 3 turns, before needing to return to rearm and refuel.
  • The Ion Cannon is extremely accurate and quick but requires a lot of resources to invest into, and uses an extreme amount of intel.

  • Icons are placeholder. I don't really know anyone that could realistically make icons and preview pics and stuff.
  • There might be occasional bugs and glitches that I may not know about.
  • AH-6 Little Bird uses entries from the Character Pool instead of the Avenger.
  • AH-6 Little Bird breaks when saving then loading a save, so don't do that.

Q: Does this work with a current save?

A: Yes, it should work out of the box, BUT not during a tactical save. Enable this mod when you are back in Strategy.

Q: Is this mod configurable?

A: Yes, this mod's configuration is open, so players can change how the Support Strikes work to a degree.

Q: Vanilla version?

A: Not really, no.

One time about two months ago when I was playing this with a bunch of other mods, whenever I used the reinforcements air support, it drops four soldiers who have no character models or animations of sorts and it kills two of the four soldiers.

Hi! I'm currently in the middle of a campaign and just got the mortars and little bird support options, have 171 intel, and went to use it during a mission in the open, but it keeps saying
"XCOM does not have enough intel to perform support strikes, so they are disabled for this mission" am I doing something wrong or have I not done something?

like I wish it be 32x6, which parameters I should edit?
I saw 3 arguments like radius=7, width=2 and range=5; but I don't find the key, I tried to modify them but only result is a NxN square

It seems unlocking any support strikes will disable the perk relates to grenade capacity bonus in the LWwotc.

Additionally, an item called 'Fire support' just suddenly appears in the inventory and can be equipped to summon HE mortar attack. However, unlocking SMK support did not provide such item as well.

Anyway, thanks for making this mod. The bombardment is fascinating!!!

It is a good mod but this same is abandoned, precision attacks work but the reinforcements arrive broken as unbeatable units that do not attack and have neither body nor visible life bar, it would have been good if they only force resistance soldiers with normal weapons but from what you see the mod will not have any update

Everything in this mod works flawlessly and have no problems with except the MH6 LittleBird which drops off invisible units no health no bars no nothing they are completely useless and can’t be used and I was very excited about the MH6 dropping off additional units when shit gets tough... 😔

Is there ever gonna be a patch or fix for the MH6 Bug or is this the state this mod is gonna Stay in??

Cuz as far as Ik the MH6 Just doesn’t Work at all.

Any updates to this mod would be highly appreciated and not just by me. 🙂
