[WOTC] Advent Hunter Revamp

Description
Don't use this with the original mod, this is a standalone new mod that requires: LWOTC Standalone Enemy Pack .

Personal Lore:
"The ADVENT Hunters originally existed as a black ops unit led by Hunter Captains for hunting high profile targets with the use of Advent sniper rifles, These days they are more common but slightly less trained as a result but their overall role in combat remain the same, rumors out there support the idea that they were trained by some high ranked individual who we believe is called THE Hunter himself, there is however not much info on him at this time. One thing that is apparent are the ADVENT Hunter's capacity for sadism and cruelty beyond what is seen otherwise among Advent, while a Stunlancer will just beat you to death in anger, a Hunter will shoot you in near-vital spots just to watch you bleed-out. Captains show this trait especially and have even made it clear with their intimidating colors and an ornate but vicious weapon."

This mod features the original mod's looks as skins which can be enabled/disabled via the following ini files:
SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\3261433470\Config\XcomEnemyReskinnerRedux.ini

Mod Information:
For more information, the original mod ( Advent Hunter Restoration ) covers the backstory in more detail but to provide a gist:

The Advent Hunters or otherwise known as the CounterOp in the files were a cut enemy unit that were meant to show up in Covert Escape missions alongside their Hunter Captains aka the CounterOpCommander, from what I've gathered the lone patrolling units on the mission were the individual Hunters while a Hunter Captain would have been the initial Dropship reinforcement along with at least a couple more Hunters going by their enabled followers which include only the standard Hunter.

This is a revamp of my original mod from years ago, while that one was intended to be somewhat faithful to what was in the files in most aspects such as their unused textures, their AI, weapon/character stats, etc. This new mod is a reimagining, a modernization for more heavily modded playlists to give Hunters an edge and a more interesting niche beyond Advent Trooper but longer range. This is an add-on to Black Dog's LWOTC Alien pack to incorporate a true Advent sniper unit alongside a Captain/Sniper hybrid.

Advent Hunters get a redesigned visual appearance incorporating new custom visors using free online images and textures from base Stunlancers as well as unused textures in the Chimera Squad files that showed bronze-colored Advent Stun Lancers and Troopers, likely a prototype for one of the enemy units in that game such as Sacred Coil or Gray Phoenix. They also obtain new AI which incorporates part of the Naja's own with some tweaks to better fit their snapshot style, in addition to new abilities to fit their theme as sadistic hunters who prey on targets.

Hunter abilities: M1: Squadsight, Longwatch, Blood Trail M2: Squadsight, Longwatch, Blood Trail, Executioner M3: Squadsight, Longwatch, Blood Trail, Executioner, Locked On, Hunter Bleeding Rounds. Blood Trail - Shots deal +1 damage if the target has been wounded this turn. Executioner - Confers +20 aim and +20 critical chance against targets at half or less of their original hit points. Locked On - Gain +10 aim and +10 crit for successive shots at the same enemy unit. Hunter Bleeding Rounds - Inflicts bleeding for 3 turns, affected biological unit takes 2 points of damage a turn.

Joining them are the Hunter Captains which I never did implement into the original mod, now they serve as a rare but dangerous unit who you'll only ever find in Escape Covert Op missions as part of the initial Dropship reinforcement, pod leaders during Retaliations and as pod leaders in the Avenger defense mission type, inspiration was taken from the Advent General revamp made by Team CX although the Hunter Captain does not show up as an alternative target in General assassination missions due to their abilities of which they obtain all that the Hunter does in addition to holotargeting in place of the standard Advent Officer's mark target ability.

Befitting with them being the most vile of Hunters, the Captains use Advent Boltcasters that showcase an ornate yet savage nature as opposed to their original loadout which was the same as the original Advent Officer as unlike the standard Hunters they were not snipers themselves, so the Boltcaster serves as a mid-way point for rifle type. Hunter Captains act like mini-bosses with their souped up base stats from the base files which are comparable to Generals and can be deadly if you allow them to remain active.

Mod Install instructions and compatibility:
Make sure to install this mod after any of the required mods.
All the listed DLC as well as it's mods are hard requirements.

As seen in the screenshots this mod uses Iridar's Advent Arsenal Ghost Templates for the desired sniper rifle appearance, however the mod is not strictly required but simply the intent. That mod has compatibility with the LWOTC Alien pack as a whole as well so the download is worth the addition.

The unit uses a new AI character root to avoid AI conflicts with the original CounterOp AI as at least A Better Advent/AI by DerBK changes/uses the original.

Both units have a wide arrary of compatible followers or being a legible follower for a large selection of modded enemies where appropriate, so one can run whatever mod is desired on an individual basis and still get a decent showing for Advent Hunters.

Lago's Reload Rework adds the Hunter Captain's Boltcaster to the list of exceptions to the mod's turn-ending reload system much like the Xcom soldier one.

Displaying the original skins requires Lago's Enemy Reskinner mod
Enemy Reskinner .

To repeat, please don't use this with the original mod, this functionally serves as a replacement.

Issues:
None as of now.

Credits:
Thanks to many:

RustyDios for creating the thumbnail image for me.

BlackDog and the LWOTC Team for the LWOTC Alien pack where several abilities originate from in addition to the repurposed/altered Naja AI.

Iridar for Advent Arsenal Ghost Templates and the Template Editor.

Lago for Enemy Reskinner and Reload Rework.

Farkyrie/Wilko/Ivankovic: For the altered Advent Sniper model originally used by Farkyrie which in addition to their permission to use was further edited with help from Wilko and Ivankovis.

Permissions:
Textures and the original weapons (not the Iridar sniper rifle which isn't included in the files of this mod of course) are free use as long as credit is given.

Model of the units themselves are a no as I did not make them myself.

Haven't taken the time to cook it, might come in the future but it's a process I've forgotten how to accomplish and the setup for it is complex enough for me to be cautious of rushing an attempt.

So yeah maybe in the future.

Can this be cooked or nah...

Yeah this already includes that mod's change, all you need is this and the Advent Arsenal mod for that change.

Is this MOD conflict with the [WOTC] Advent Hunter's new Sniper? Or we need to unsubcribe this mod too.

Ah I see an earlier version of the EncounterList ini slipped in, I worked on the config files outside of the project folder and then would add them into the project afterwards although I was doing that step by step.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll update the mod right away.

So, I was digging through a number of INI's to try and get my new computer squared away, and I noticed that most of the mod refers to "AdvCounterOpM#" and "AdvCounterOpCommanderM#", except the "XComEncounterLists" INI, which seems to be good up until the end where there's three entries for Generals where CounterOpCommnader should be?

You can also download the LWOTC Enemies and nuke the encounter lists of that mod.

If you were to copy the .upk from this mods \content folder to the older version.. find out what the archetype names are and plug those into the Enemy Reskinner config ...

is there a way to turn off this unit/abilities and therefore not need lwotc enemies. and use the reskin mod to make these skins apply to the stand alone hunter? i really like the visual but i dont want lwotc standalone enemy mod
