Celeste is easily one of the greatest Indie games (or games in general) of all time and is my personal favorite to this day. Although the game can become frustrating to players who struggle with platformers, the game features many different handicaps in the assist mode.

Celeste has an amazing story that is told not just through dialogue but gameplay as well. Celeste is the best example I could ever give as a perfect way of storytelling through gameplay. Each death doesn't just feel like another attempt at trying to beat the same screen but rather each death feels like you're making more and more progress until you eventually overcome your challenge which is one of the greatest feelings in gaming.

Celeste has one of the best soundtracks in gaming. Lena Raine did an amazing job making the music for Celeste and each song really fits the vibe of the level especially throughout all of Chapter 9. The music throughout the game perfectly captures the emotions experienced by Madeline whether its determination, stubbornness, or hopelessness.

Celeste has a unique art style. The design of all the levels is made very well and there's tons of little details scattered throughout every single level. The art in the game is beautiful throughout and it really ties the atmosphere of the game together.

As a completionist I can say that Celeste is one of my proudest achievements. As someone with a combined 300 hours on the game between all platforms I have not only gotten all steam achievements but also gone for multiple of the golden berries in the game. Each level has a golden berry which appears after completing the level normally and the only way to get it is to beat the entire level deathless. Completing all the chapters in Celeste deathless can provide extra hundreds of hours of gameplay. The final chapter of the game which already takes around 8 hours to beat on your first playthrough also has a golden berry which is a massive commitment achievable by only the most dedicated players.

Celeste is the perfect platformer in every way. It feels good to play and provides a challenge for players of any level of skill. The game also has an amazing modded scene full of amazing creators and some massive collaborations that provide thousands of hours worth of gameplay. I highly recommend checking out Celeste especially if platformers are your type of game.
