Master piece

I understand this game has enough review and rating to justify anyone buying it, but here goes another one.

Is RE2R worth it? And what about mods?
Well, I've played close to 100 hours out of this game, which means a few runs.
You got to play routes “A” and “B” with both Claire and Leon. Routes are not that different, but there is enough variation to bring the overall play time up to a good amount of hours.

Game is well done, with good graphics, sound effects, character and environmental design.
The screen is a little blurry, so I do recommend using Reshade for post processing mod.
To be honest, almost all my games are run with post processing mod, so RE2 would not be different.

I really like the character design in game.
Don’t recall much about the PS1 game version, since I’ve last played many years ago, but Claire and Leon are great, not only in their aesthetic, but also the voice over.
Many other characters follow the same line, which makes the game story more engaging.
The environment is very detailed, and can feel a little claustrophobic at times, which adds a lot to the survival horror immersion.
Lot's of gore, and creatures design do an excellent work bringging the T-Virus outbreak to life.

Mouse and keyboard is the way I play it, so controls are very responsive for aiming.
Some zombies do have erractic movement, making difficult to shot in the head, so I can’t imagine myself playing this game with a controller.

There is a good variety of weapons, however ammo is very limited, so player got to use it sparingly, at least until you finish the game and unlock weapons with infinite ammo.
I got to say the infinite ammo weapons don’t increase the game fun. It’s not designed to be a zombie shooter game, so even with infinite ammo, and being capable of blowing every zombie head out, it doesn’t feel right.

Inventory is quite small, which will make you do lots of back tracking.
It’s my understanding that this is a game design characteristic for this genre, so no much to say about it.

Puzzles are nicely done, to the point that you will not need to look for a walkthrough at the internet, but still making you work for it. Something which is hard to find in today’s games.

When Capcom last updated the game, all my mods stopped working.
I’ve rolled it back to version dx11_non-rt to be able to bring back the mods.
At Nexus mods there are a few good mods for weapons and outfits. The game costumes are very nice, but which game doesn’t get better with mods? Come on, totally worth it.

Overall, RE2R is a good re-imagine of an old classic.
It doesn’t follow exactly the original game, but is a well done and fun enough to satisfy fans of the franchise.
