Para Bellum - Collection

Description

If you want peace, prepare for war.

This mod collection is a total conversion for Rome II with a historical approach, keeping a balance with the gameplay, and aiming for a more challenging and epic experience. Every aspect of the game has been revamped and adapted to achieve a unique experience: graphics, interface, campaign and battle mechanics and artificial intelligence, units that in many cases include regional variations, special effects and weather; are some of the parts that have been thoroughly revised, combining aesthetics and gameplay, to evoke Antiquity in all its splendor.

GEMFX instructions:
Copy the profile file GEMFX_settings.cfg (make a backup of the original one) into the Steam \ steamapps \ common \ Total War Rome II \ GEMFX \ Presets \ Current folder
According to your preferences or to improve performance, you can uncheck the Additional Shader options like the Ambient light or blur effect (activated with F2 key) that combines flawlessly with the Low Depth of Field in-game option.

Or manually set the preset in GEMFX:
- GEMFX tab: just tick No Gem Shader and Ambient light (GodRays optional).
- SweetFX tab: HDR (Power 0.8, Radius 0) and Vibrace (Amount 0.05, Balance RGB=1). You may adapt the values depending on your preferences or monitor calibration.

How to install GEMFX:

1. Don´t subscribe to GEMFX in the Steam Workshop, it is outdated and includes files that may conflict with your game and this mod, instead:
2. Download GEMFX.zip (link above), run the GEMFXSteamInstaller.exe and GEMFXv1_0_9.exe and manually select the main directory of the game as the installation path, for both installers:
Steam \ steamapps \ common \ Total War Rome II \
3. If properly installed you will see two new folders in this location, called GEM and GEMFX:
Steam \ steamapps \ common \ Total War Rome II \ GEM
Steam \ steamapps \ common \ Total War Rome II \ GEMFX

Optionally, the HDR effect can be deactivated (especially if there is any graphical glitch, what can happen with some old graphics card models). To do this open the GEMFX_Configurator.exe (which is in the main folder of the game) and in the SweetFX tab disable the HDR box and click on "Save configuration".

Language translation files:
-> click to download[1drv.ms]
Place your languaje file in the "data" folder of the game directory, located in: \Steam\steamapps\common\Total War Rome II\data.
The missing texts are filled in English. The French and Spanish versions include more translated content but they are far from perfect. If you want to collaborate to make a better translation in your language contact me, it is very easy ;)

- As a total overhaul, Para Bellum is only compatible with the mods included in the Para Bellum submods & Compatible mods Collection.

- Multiplayer compatibility only if both players have exactly the same contents (mods and/or GEMFX installed and subscribed). Also the Para Bellum Multiplayer patch is highly recommended (contained in the Para Bellum submods Collection).

- Compatible with all DLC campaigns and contents.

- Ancestral Update (Patch 20) compatible.

My sincerest thanks and appreciation of incredible hours of hard work and dedication, goes to the modders that shared their fabulous content, making possible this collection:

Small question. im trying to use the collection and the faction mod together but the other factions are not showing up. Are they not compatible?

Why can't I see the combat odds for a battle? When a battle is initiated and the odds are shown for my forces vs the enemy, all I see is an empty slider with no odds shown? Is there a fix?

I'm playing Para Bellum mod with everything activated, and when I zoom out all the way on the campaign map there are graphical distortions that makes it appear like there's a dent in the middle of my screen. It goes vertically down when I zoom back in - after 3 "scroll steps" it's no longer visible. But when fully zoomed out, it's in the center.

so you have the exact same problem, Manel Player

there's a bug in the roman military research, where on the 3rd research for infantry it appears the tier 4 auxiliary garrison but it appears also on the last research and when I do the 3rd research it simply doesn't let me build the auxiliary garrison, wich I was kinda in need of the unit since my population was kinda low and I couldn't really recruit roman units. And there's also a problem with hoplites and pikeman, I encircled a unit of heavy etruscan hoplites with 1 of triari and 2 of hastati and the 3 units where "losing decisively" where does that make sense?????? the only thing that could potentialy kill them was rear charging the unit with very heavy shock cavalry and still they would only break if I charged them like 6 times WHILE SORROUNDED FROM ALL SIDES.

loving the mod, but I got one issue with population, when I conquer a settlement the population decline as hell and the settlements that I started with, the population barely grows and also decline very much, while I got the right buildings, food surplus and public order stable.

So am I doing something wrong here or is the population mod not working as it should?

Some of the old edicts are still being mentioned when browsing cities and building temple's.

Playing as Kush a bug occured not showing the effects of agents in the recruitment panel. Second, I marched into enemy territory, fought a battle and proceeded going for the siege of the city and ran out of supply very quickly. Supply seems to be a bit of a problem when the distance from one city to another becomes longer. Maybe this and the movement range (quite short) can be tweaked?

Can you change the victory conditions for factions that have to raze 30+ settlements? It's kind off strange. In DEI it's only 5 for Iceni.

I hope this and the comments from others are enough reason to update. Much appreciated!
