Outbreak mode intro:

Pre-preparation
If you intend to play through the storyline of Outbreak, I advise you to level up assault or tactical rifles and machine guns to the end. A shotgun is completely helpless in a boss battle, submachine guns lose their effectiveness dramatically, and sniper rifles are not particularly practical.

  • Among the field modifications, only «Frenzied Guard» is worthy of attention.
  • «Ring of Fire» is also useful, but it's definitely not a good idea before the boss fight

It is highly recommended to play with another player, even with a friend, as this will greatly simplify the actions at the end and the battle with the boss.



World #1
There's nothing special to do here — just complete tasks, level up your weapons, and buy the necessary perks.

After you're done, make up your mind before teleporting:
  • level up even more in world #2
  • go straight to story quest in world #3 using the level skipping method

The main elements of the story quest are available from world #3, but you can do it later if you need to, up to the softcap on world #10.
World #3 — The Beginning
First of all, the player needs to find a special radio. Unlike the usual radio points that can be found from time to time in the world, this one is not even displayed on the mini-map.

Their location is as follows (the red circle indicates the main point, and the green ones are amplifiers). Then you have to repeat the same procedure as with a regular radio point - find the three amplifiers and tune them to the desired signal, while simultaneously fighting off the zombies.

    After that, you will receive some essence, as well as a special part for a beacon listening device
    After completing the main objective of this world, a new button will appear when you activate the beacon
    After pressing the button, the team will be contacted by Maxis whose asked for help
    To continue the Story quest, you need to travel to the next world
World #4 — Continuation
In the new world, you need to find Ravenov's microfilm slides, hidden in one of the monkey statues. There are 4 of them on the map. You can find a map of the statues' location with a more precise location by looking at the images in the left column.

The statue you need has an «M» mark next to it - after destroying it, a microfilm slides will fall out. Now you need to view the film, and for this you need to use a projector on the map. The location of the projector can be found on the images in the right column.

After listening to a short report from Maxis, the final stage of the quest begins.
World #5 — Ruka map
The next map will definitely be «Ruka» because that's where the final action will take place. Here, instead of the usual Requiem tasks, the pointer will lead to a missile silo bunker.

After descending into the bunker, rely only on your brain power — the mini-map will be unavailable, the location cannot be cleared from zombies, and the missile silos themselves are huge.

Initially, the player will be in shaft D, then you need to go up a few levels to go to shaft A. Going down, the player will see a control panel, after which it is necessary to activate it and thus open access to shaft B, and after it the cutscene with Ravenov is activated.



Next, the player needs to find the activation keys for the missiles - one for each and three in total. Starting from this point, big problems arise, because now enemies will begin to revive even more actively, and it will not be possible to escape back to the surface.

Location of important things for survival:
  • Arsenal — upper level of mine A
  • Ammo Box — lower level between shafts A and B, lower level of shaft D, upper level between the three shafts
  • Pack-A-Punch — upper level of the B shaft
  • Der Wunderfizz — upper level of the D shaft
  • Craft table — upper level between the three shafts



Key #1 — Shaft B

    You need to go down to the very bottom and notice a familiar detail — a device with ether canisters
    First, you need to activate this canister, and only then proceed to collecting aether
    In total, the player must collect 20 crystals by breaking the appropriate number of large crystals
    Those are regenerated from time to time, so don't worry if you don't find any more - just go back to the beginning and they will reappear
    The process of transferring crystals will take some time, and at this point the player will be attacked by many zombies and mini-bosses
    After you survive this attack, pick up the canister and head to shaft D
    There is an ethereal jellyfish, activate the combat modification you received next to it
    The jellyfish will slowly catch the player by gravity, after which it will receive a container of aether, and the player will receive the necessary first key near the scientist's corpse



Key #2 — Shaft D

    Actually, it's not really about the mine
    Go back upstairs to the location between all the missile silos
.
    As you move through it, you've probably noticed a lot of "extra objects" — all of them are mimics
    The key is located in the passage to the C shaft, or rather on the corpse
    When you try to pick him up, an enhanced mimic appears, which must be finished off
    He is much more resilient than the previous ones



Key #3 — Shaft A

    In one of the fire exhaust pipes, the player will notice another familiar thing - an essence trap from «Firebase Z»
    With a banana
    Use this device to catch the ghost monkey
    Its screams can be clearly heard even from a distance, and it can also be seen from afar, as it glows with a bright blue light
    In order to catch it, you need to get as close to it as possible so that it runs into the vent, and then leave the essence trap next to the vent (but do not throw it directly into the vent)
    After that, stand back and listen to the audio messages.
    And as soon as you hear «target in range» press F twice to catch it
    Otherwise, the monkey will run away to another vent within the shaft
Start the boss fight
After the player collects all 3 keys, they must insert them and activate the control panel near each mine in a certain order. However, this order may change with each completion of the quest.

In order to determine the correct order the first time, look at the lights near the place where the key is inserted. A green light will indicate the number under which you need to activate each of them - from the first to the third.

For example, in the sample below, the leftmost bulb is green, which means it should be activated first.



If the player chooses the wrong sequence, the system will report an error and the procedure can be repeated in a minute. All this should be done in about 45 seconds.
Boss fight
After successfully activating the missiles, you need to go to the surface and defeat the Legion boss, which is an enlarged Tempest, in 9 minutes.



The player will have only 10 minutes to do everything, of which one is spent on introducing the boss.

His only weak point is his chest. Once enough damage is dealt, the boss will be stunned and three glowing spheres will start flying around. To destroy the boss, you need to destroy all three.



The bigger danger here is not the boss himself, but the many other zombies that roam everywhere - regular, armored zombies, mimics, and manglers. Therefore, it is recommended to play with someone else - one will clear the crowd, the other will take care of the boss.

Destroying the boss in 9 minutes is quite possible, but what is even more realistic is death from a crowd of armored super sprinters.

After the Legion is destroyed, a new cutscene will begin, marking the end of the first Outbreak story quest, and the player will receive the corresponding Dark Ops achievement «Ravenov Implications»:

I was one of the dumb ones that pre-ordered Cold War back in 2020, but buying it again on Steam (on sale) hits different. Haven't touched the game since 2021 but playing it again on Steam is quite fun solo and these guides help me a lot. Thanks bro :ccknight:
