I am a huge fan of the Alien Universe and I have watched the movies more times than I can remember.

Alien Isolation, for me, was really awesome. It started off a bit slow but half-way through I just didn´t want it to end. Creative Assembly absolutely did the first movie justice. They expanded and tied it all together brilliantly. The level of detail and though put into making it feel just like the late-70s movie is amazing. Every little sound effect pulled me right in. All of the surroundings made total sence. Everything from movement to the general feedback from your environment also made the experience very seemless and immersing. Sadly, this comes with irritating side effects.

In the event that you die and have to replay an area a couple of times, I at least got really impatient and totaly lost the immersion that had been built up for hours. Maybe I just suck at hiding and should have chosen a lower difficulty(played at medium and I´m not new to gaming), but sometimes I really got mad for the Alien knowing exactly where I was, even when I had stopped using the motion sensor long ago for it being merely a useless homing device. I do recommend going one step easier your usual difficulty for a solid playthrough.

I really enjoy reading and listening to all the personal logs and terminal messages, but too often I found myself rushing them through because of really questionable positioning in places where calm were non-existent.

Still I have got to hand it to them, the game looks freaking beautiful. Some areas are really jaw-dropping, and not for marginable size nor large polygoncount but for the profound and clever use of light and shadows.

I would totaly recommend this title to any hardcore Alien fans out there.


Overall, I would simply call this one the most thrilling, handsome and immersive experiences of 2014.
