First of all, I want to clarify that today, 08/12/2023, Baldur's Gate III has been the winner of the Game of the Year. Now, I leave you with the "small" review, greetings, adventurers.

When a game makes you think about the characters, the choices you've made, the choices you still want to make, the next place you'll want to explore, and the overall progression of the story AFTER you've closed the game and maybe you're in bed or away from home and you can't wait to play again, then something is going terribly right.

This game attracts you in a way that I have rarely felt in anything, it is a different experience, a different reality, it is your own life seen through the eyes of the narrator and your character. You and your character are one.

I'm not a D&D player myself. That's why I barely know the rules, but the game gives you enough information to orient yourself and over time you learn things "playfully".

The world in the game seems so incredibly alive. You never feel like you're "working on" quests because even the quest log is written with written hints, as if you were taking notes on things yourself.

Wandering around the world, you discover something interesting around every corner and get distracted by something on the way to a quest and then you poke around here and there and suddenly half an hour has passed and you have to remember where you're really going. because you've discovered a hidden place that you absolutely wanted to explore "just briefly."

Another point to highlight are the characters. It feels like traveling with "people who live and feel." When you go around the world, depending on the combination you make in the group, people also have things to talk about with each other, some understand each other and joke, others get angry, comments are made here and there. It looks "real." And I don't even want to start with the personal relationships you make with your colleagues. Sometimes you forget that it's just a pre-programmed game.

And then the moral choices you have to make! A simple encounter with an NPC can trigger a powerful story that will leave you not knowing who to believe. Should you believe anyone and who you help and who you don't? Should you help anyone at all? Everything is possible, nothing is mandatory. The possibilities seem endless.

Basically, I just started playing (I'm 30 hours into the game) and I've only seen part of the world so far, I can't even begin to imagine what it will be like when I get to town.

I'm sure I've forgotten a number of things I'd like to praise. Come to think of it, I really don't know how I'm going to justify buying another full-price game in the future given the quantity and, more importantly, the quality you get for what you spend here. I know... it hurts to spend such a large amount of money, but $20,000 (about €60) for this game is really not enough when you see what you get (a finished game with hardly any bugs, nothing to buy through DLC, without microtransactions, you don't have to be in a season pass every month thereafter). You get a game that is just plain fun.

I could have given a thumbs up and left it at that. That's a good thing because no one will read this review anyway. But this GOTY deserves as many words as possible about it. I haven't even begun to do it justice, I could talk about it for much longer.

100% purchase recommendation for the game of the year 2023

Although this review is a bit late, the game is a true work of art from Capcom. They've perfected their remakes so much that this RE4 is almost even better than the 2005 remake. It's been years since I've played something this good. The best remake of recent years, RE2 was already very well done. They messed up a bit with RE3, but with this one, they nailed it. The game still maintains the essence of the original, being a definitive action horror. It's a game with great replayability to complete challenges and obtain new items. Mercenary mode also returns, and if you've never played RE or any of the remakes, I highly recommend this one.

Visually, this game is a marvel. The environments are richly detailed, the lighting is impeccable, and every character model looks incredible. Leon is, without a doubt, one of the best protagonists in the history of video games, so he's clearly perfectly done. And Ada? Pfff, let's not talk about it. If she was excellent in the Resident Evil 2 Remake, she's on another level now.

Although in reality, all the characters in this game are carefully curated. Leon, Ada, Luis, Ashley, Hunk, and Krauser feel better than ever, with great dialogue and interactions that make them stand out. Story-wise, the encounters are intense, the enemies actually collaborate, and the fights feel dynamic rather than just filler.

This is where the game truly shines. The gameplay is fast, fluid, and never wastes your time. The arsenal is plentiful: pistols, rifles, knives, and upgradeable weapons that make you feel unstoppable at times. The crafting system is also a great touch, allowing you to manage resources without having to deal with predefined nonsense.

The plot respects the story but unfolds differently. The order of the levels is altered, some things have disappeared, and new ones have taken center stage, giving the title more realism, something that happened in Resident Evil 2 when they changed the side system and made them quite similar. The environments are enormous, there's a lot to explore, and that provides many hours of gameplay on the first playthrough or when replaying, as each one has several treasures to find and secret places to explore.

Now, one thing that does surpass the original Resident Evil 4 is the soundtrack in this remake, simply a delight to the ears. It's well done and maintains the essence of the original. The voices of the cattle are well done and now they sound like real Spanish, although I won't lie, I miss the ones from the original. Luckily, in the Deluxe Edition, you can replace the officer's voice. A great touch from Capcom. But the nicest detail is "the bullet or the blade" in the credits; that's really nice to hear.

Well, there are other things worth highlighting, but overall, this remake performs very well, and whether it's on sale or not, it's definitely worth buying. Even more so in the Americas or in regions where the price is regionalized and therefore very cheap.
