The Dark Promise

Description
The party is given a strange letter surrounded in mystery. A promise of gold and strange details of the letter guide the party to starting their journey. The simple task before them quickly turns into the party embarking on an adventure that turns into one of the craziest experiences of their lives.

*********************************************************************************
The Dark Promise is a self made story and world using the Solasta engine and Dungeons and Dragons lore. I tried to add subtle hints on how to progress the story, but the game is designed to allow the player to chose. The first half of the game tries to allow a linear growth and story for the player to follow, but the second part of the game is open and the player is welcome to do things in any order they please. If something feels too difficult, perhaps try another quest elsewhere first. Please save often.

################################
Play time: 15-30 hours (Depends on how many optional quests you try)
Level progression: 1-Max
Party size: 4
Custom weapons: yes
Locations: 43
Quests: 31
Optional Guilds: Hunter, Magi, Warrior, Warlock, Thieves, Assassin.
Secret legendary weapon quests for almost any type of weapon the party wants.
################################

Note: There are challenges in the game that will require keys to open doors if the trial is failed. Be careful selling keys, or you can hard-stuck your characters if you lose the key somehow.

Planned improvements:
More quests may be added to various locations if I can think of something creative and get it working.
More skill checks to make non-combat related skills useful.

Developer Notes:

I think this adventure can be enjoyed with a single player with 4 characters or if you have friends to play with you, it can be fun to play together. This initial build is not meant to be extremely difficult, but can be challenging at times. A balanced party is recommended but I am not here to tell you how to have fun. I personally played through it with a team of: Fighter - Defensive, Rogue - Thief, Ranger - Dual weapon, Bard - Healer. There are skill checks for as much as I could cram in or figure out. I do apologize for poor spelling or grammar issues as a lot of it is written off the cuff and at times late at night. Please feel free to give any feedback, good or bad and let me know if there are any game breaking bugs. I do apologize if that does happen. I know it can really ruin the experience. I did my best to make sure it is working as well as possible. I will keep polishing the game up and push out updates when I can. Enjoy!

@Lepersmythe Thank you so much! I agree I need to adjust a few places and fix the difficulty and rewards. It has just been kind of a lot for one person to manage. My biggest goal was to get a working version out that after someone finished it, they did not feel like they just wasted a large period of time. Maybe in a few years if you get the urge to play again I will have a much better version for you to try. Glad you liked it as much as you did, thank you for your feedback.

I have finished all the quests that were available to me. This was fun.

I never did find a green stone or a certain person who suggested that I find them in town.

There were a few spots where the reward for failure was better than the reward for success in terms of experience and there were a couple of fights that I assume were meant to be unwinnable, but could be beaten with proper preparation and a completely cowardly approach.

@Lepersmythe Thank you for that, I am not sure how I messed that up but I found the issue and corrected it for the blue quest, I think it will work for you now.

The white stone quest worked perfectly for me after your fix. The black stone quest also worked perfectly.

I tried to do the blue stone quest, but the map didn't load and I got this error: "The target entrance index is invalid: 1"

@Lepersmythe Thank you so much for letting me know! I replicated the state of the game and was able to recreate the game crash. I found the issue and made some changes to the logic. The quest worked for me in my testing. I think it may actually fix for you if you load with the newest version. I apologize if it does not!

The white stone guy still crashes the game if you talk to him after having already found the first white stone. I cannot yet comment on any of the other stone quests.

@tarwyn I just doubled checked, the blue stone is on the ravine map. The black one is in a house back in Silver Helm. It is the building to the right of Deseri near the first area of Silver Helm that you find. That should allow you to speak to Irou and do the black stone quest.

@tarwyn The blocked off room you found is a work in progress, you cannot get into there yet. The stone is near the water on the right side of the map in a barrel or a box I think. Thank you for letting me know about the dialog. I have tested it so much but of course I never caused that bug to happen, and I apologize about the starting location! You were spot on on and it should have been on the bottom right. I moved it to test something and of course I forgot to put it back. I will make some corrections and push them up as soon as I get the bug figured out. I know it might seem straight forward to the player, but that final dialog has many variables and complicated things happening in the background that determine how difficult the fight is. There is one last exit that should appear at the North of Oak Berry that will end the game for you when you are ready.

Ok, so i went back into the spider basement and it looks like there is a room in the southeast corner, but i can't find any way into it. There's no secret door, or crawlspace, or switch anywhere that i could find in the rest of the map. Just the large main chamber and the room with the campfire on the south west corner.
