Changing the Mods
For those interested in changing any of the mods above (specifically the "increased" mods), here are some step by step instructions to help you make a copied version of the mod with changes to which factions/races/units/buildings are affected by them:

1) "Subscribe" to the mod you wish to make changes to. In this example, we'll be using the "Increased Hero Unit Levels (+40)" mod.

2) Navigate to where it's located on your computer (default location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\489630). Alternatively, you can start up Gladius, go to the "Mods" menu screen, and select the "Open mod folder" option for the mod you want to change.

3) Copy the mod folder you wish to modify (this example uses the "Increased Hero Unit Levels (+40)", which is the folder named: 2626456161).

4) Navigate on your computer to "...\Documents\Proxy Studios\Gladius" and locate the "Mods" folder. If this folder isn't here, just make a new folder and call it "Mods".

5) Paste the mod you copied from step 3 into this "Mods" folder from step 4 and rename the mod to whatever you like.

6) Open up the copied mod folder from step 5, navigate to "...\Data\World\Units" and either:

add files/folders of factions/races/units/buildings that you want to gain the benefits of the mod,
OR
delete the files/folders of factions/races/units/buildings you DON'T want to have the benefits.

7) All done. Launch the game and go into the "Mods" menu screen, and make sure the new mod you just created is checked.

I'm lousy at explaining stuff, so here are 2 much better guides to help you if you get lost or are having trouble:

Hope these help!

This page is great, having everything laid out like this really helped me clarify my vision for the game. Plus the instructions at the bottom make it easy to personalize, ty

@Nameless Mind sending me a link to the specific part of the guide you're referring to? I don't really actively play this anymore but I'm curious how it is done.

Thank you for the reply.
The correct answer would be to adjust the mode to the desired race.
Try it by referring to the guide above.

@Nameless Glad you're enjoying the mods! The steam user Bazza asked about this a while back and unfortunately nothing has changed since then. Here's the situation:

"I wish there was a way to affect only the player or only the AI, but unfortunately I know of no direct way to do so.

The best and only option that I'm aware of would be to make mods that make changes to the specific faction/race that you're playing as, and then play against opponents that play as another faction/race. Sorry, wish I had some better advice for ya. I've been saying for years now that I wish we had some more modding support, but who knows what the future holds for this game."

dear Skirata.
I love your mode.
Is there a way to make the 'Increased mode' only apply to the player?
I want to conquer the continent with the strongest army.

@F.O.A.D. Yes the number of building slots can be adjusted. The Adeptus Mechanicus actually does this in the base game, which is kind of cool, so check out the tile features in the base game found at: ".../Data/World/Features" for some examples. The one below if from "Arctic.xml":

<modifier>
<conditions>
<player>
<faction name="AdeptusMechanicus"/>
</player>
</conditions>
<effects>
<buildingSlots add="1"/>
</effects>
</modifier>

Can the number of building slots per-hex be modded by any chance?
