Description
Reporting For Duty for Mixu's Mousillon has arrived! This edition of Reporting For Duty goes a bit beyond my normal work, but some of you already know it means Mousillon now gets:
  • Garrison units for military buildings & landmarks
  • Spells & Abilities for garrisoned heroes as the settlement levels up. (No more mages stuck with only 1 spell!)
  • Better garrison spawn priorities

As for the extra stuff, let's start with the new unit!

Balefire Archers

Peasant Bowmen (Balefire Arrows) is an exclusive armour-piercing unit for the custom Mousillon faction (a Vampire-Bretonnian mix) by Mixu. Each arrow is tipped with a small explosive balefire charge that detonates on impact. "Balefire Archers" are useful against dense groups of infantry and can quickly cut enemy morale. The explosives can also knock down small enemies to make an opening for your own troops. Beware, balefire does not discriminate: it will damage your own troops caught in any blast along with the enemy. Balefire Archers are also a very fragile unit; they are particularly vulnerable to magic, and their shorter range makes it easier for them to be targeted by the enemy.

Balefire Archers have a much smaller unit size than that of a normal Peasant Bowmen company. Balefire, made with elements of warpstone, has a maddening effect on the mind. Few normal men are able to withstand its proximity for long. Then again, the residents of Mousillon have never been very normal, have they?

Balefire Archers are recruited from the Tier 3 Rally Field building and require the Tier 3 Armoury. Peasant Bowmen (Balefire Arrows) will appear in some major settlement garrisons or forts and as a reward for the Tier 3 Armoury building.

Peasants of All Sizes

This mod also changes the variability in size for all Mousillon peasant units. Now you'll see short peasants standing next to tall peasants. The Mousillon Army doesn't have the luxury of only drafting 6-ft. tall specimens.

Balancing

Mixu's Mousillon is great. But there were a few tweaks that I felt would improve it. Chief among them altering the Mutant ability given to all peasants. Thematically used to represent Mousillon being home to all the misfits and Bretonnian outcasts with nowhere better to go. In implementation, it provided a 11% Physical Resistance buff... which is a lot. And no downside. I've changed it to +6% Physical Resistance and -2 Leadership to make it more balanced and mechanically interesting. A few of the stats to the peasant units themselves have also been lightly tweaked, sometimes a little stronger, sometimes a little weaker.

On the building side, I moved recruitment of the Dire Wolves from the Cemetary to the Swamp Land chain. I also reduced the cost of Mousillon's Tier 4 Binding Circle building from 7500g to 6000g; because the building's value is reduced somewhat if Mousillon can't recruit the Black Coach.

Bugfixes
  • Tier 1 settlements can now recruit units (Men-at-Arms[Swords] & Zombies). This way a settlement without any military buildings can still recruit at least something.
  • Cemetary can now recruit Skeleton Warriors. This was likely a simple oversight since the Ducal Palace landmark also allows you to also recruit them.
  • Corrected the AI army-composition-instructions from thinking peasant bowmen were a flying unit. Now it recognizes the different peasant bowmen units as ranged missile units when deciding which units to recruit.
  • Corrected the army-composition-instructions to recognize Trebuchets and Cursed Trebuchets as artillery instead of support.
  • Lvl 1 Minor Norscan/Coastal outposts now downgrade and upgrade to their proper chain
  • If you capture the settlement of Sartosa it will display their unique visual in the campaign map instead of a general visual.
  • Added Mousillon unit garrisons to the missing settlements of Hellpit, Skavenblight, Black Crag, & the Awakened.
  • Updated the price of Black Knights

Thanks

Thanks to The Duke for his idea to make the Balefire Arrows also be explosives. 10/10 idea mate! Thanks to DeliCious for help with testing and balancing. And of course, thanks to Mixu for creating an awesome custom faction to begin with. I do not have a Patreon for my mods. If you would like to show thanks, a few kind words will do just that. :) I also encourage aid to your local food bank.

Sure it is, but it won't be me doing it.
That'd be a great introductory mod if you have any interest in modding.

Is it possible to make a submod that adds the ability to get terrorgheists?

"Updated" for The Silent & The Fury update. No changes.

Thanks for the feedback. The random distribution curve is balanced between short/tall. So you're either reporting normal RNG variance, or you're just noticing the tall ones more. But that's still valuable feedback. As they say: perception is reality.

yeah, I get that, what I mean is they tend to disproportionately tall.

The first picture is a good example of the variance you'll see within the same unit.

I like this mod, but it seems to make the Mousillon peasants on average a LOT taller than regular peasants. Like, most of them are at least a foot taller than regular men-at-arms. Is that intentional?

@Soon
I prefer playing as the Red Duke over Mallobaude, so I have no idea. I can tell you though that whatever bug you're experiencing, it's due to a script error in the main Mousillon mod (Reporting For Duty has 0 scripts).
I have the power to overwrite database error bugs via Reporting For Duty. Not scripting bugs, because I can't overwrite them. You'll have to ask Mixu about that. Before you do though, see if you can replicate the bug without other mods on.
