Early Access Review
The save files have become corrupt and there is nothing that can be done to reset the data. It appears the game partially stores character information on their own servers, since removing all data from %USERPROFILE%/Saved Games/Enshrouded and C:\Games\Steam\userdata\00000803\1203620 is not effective in resetting the save data to a blank slate. The game is therefore unplayable.

I really like this game. Would love to see more with the exact same mechanics as far as map and dungeon movement on a 2D hand drawn maps + turn based first person combat, with different visual themes. Sometimes the efficient is just a little too oppressive, which while impressive can be a bit tiresome for me anyway.

Something just like this with a scifi plot would be really great.

This game is really fun. Wish it was longer or that there was a map editor and workshop support or something.

When attempting to get this game to work I had to change the graphics settings to the very lowest options and disable most post process, not all that unusual but it is disappointing as the game is pretty clearly just not optimized enough.

However, whenever I change the graphics settings, it changed the keybindings! It changed the forward button to Z key. Hah!

When I change that back, it changes the graphics settings back to a too-low resolution I had tried initially! Double hah!

Finally, there is controller support, sort of but:
1. You can't invert the controller look (you can invert mouse though so that's nice at least)
and
2. There is no key binding for attack. It's just LMB on mouse, no choice (again, fine), but since there is no binding line in the settings you can't set one for the controller... and it either doesn't have one, or changing the resolution erased whatever hidden default binding there is.

If I could get into a config file maybe I could fix this stuff and maybe even enjoy the silly mayhem I saw in the trailer video, but until these issues are fixed I can't recommend the game even for the current $0.99 sale. Too bad too, I love silly Christmas games and the general action-hero-Christmas theme in particular.

So far this is actually pretty fun. It's a fairly simple game loop, but has a few surprising moments and I'm enjoying it.

Edit:
I've figured out how to do some basic mods for Float Night which was my #1 feature request:
https://steamproxy.net/app/958280/discussions/0/2957167122120968762/

Some bugs / quality of life stuff I've noticed, but which don't stop me from playing it:
- Big one that I thought made my safe file unrecoverable (see update): It's possible to place a foundation piece and become stuck. Even reloading the game doesn't help (obviously I shouldn't have saved after this happened, but normally I get returned to the starting point on every load so I thought it would fix the issue). Update: Just let your character die of hunger if this happens, it'll respawn you with -1 day survived lost.
- Got another bug that caused another kind of soft lock: the rover has pretty insane physics which caused my character to go through the terrain and fall eternally. Suggestion: add a plane -1000 units below the terrain that when touched by the player object respawns them at the origin. I have done this in my unity games and it helps a lot with weird bugs like this. Bonus to this is that watching the floating point errors pile up on the character is pretty dang trippy. Seems like I'll have to wait to die again...
- Please make it so that when something is placed in the hotbar and then used up, it will automatically appear in the previous hotbar slot instead of backpack when picked up. Also please make it so that new items appear in the hotbar stack rather than a new backpack stack if there already is one in the hotbar.
- The gun reticle stays red even when pointed at a dead enemy, it would be nice if it stayed grey when pointed at a dead enemy. Not a huge deal but has caused me to waste some ammo especially at night.
- There is a bug that sometimes prevents switching from the harvesting tool to a weapon. I can't quite figure out why this happens but it mostly seems to be when I get the crap scared out of me by getting attacked by a monster I didn't see while harvesting stuff.
- Explorers don't remember their positions when loading a game.
- When shooting creatures, please make it so that bullets go through enemy bodies *or* make it so that enemies cannot occupy the same space as enemy bodies. As it is right now it's very hard to hit some enemies when they are embedded within several other dead enemies.

Feature requests:
- My number one request: please add workshop / modding support so the community can create new maps, items, etc.
- If not the above, please at least add DLC with additional maps/planets, items, etc.! I'd pay for it! Ideally, please add modding support and do DLC.
- An automated wood harvester bot, red ore harvesting bot, etc. would be epic.
- Dungeons with higher rates of red ore but harder enemies.
- Small turrets you can easily pick up / rearm / repair (useful for above dungeons).
- Add more weapons that can be purchased
- Maybe add weapon mods and ammo types
- More variety of enemies (perhaps there are more later, I have only gotten to 8 days)

For modding: I would specifically *LOVE* to see support for BepInEx mods that could be distributed through the workshop, but any kind of modding that allows for adding weapons, plant types, enemy types, buildable objects, dungeons, map modifications, custom maps, cheat codes would be great.

Yeah this game is awesome. It's literally Dankborne, a game that's all chalice dungeon and slightly less horror is just perfect for me (though I LOVE Bloodborne sometimes it's a bit much). Last session: running low on heals, just one more root to heal to clear this level, ♥♥♥♥ YEAH I did it! It's a total blast. I expect I'll put a lot of time into this one.

Really good engine that's very easy to use and has tons of extensions freely available. Very friendly and helpful community.
