Overall solid game even in EA. Would be nice to see something new instead of the same bosses over and over though, not very imaginative. Building is great, being able to alter existing buildings and "renovate" them is awesome too. Feel spoiled now having played this and been able to change terrain etc using the voxel engine, certainly set a benchmark here. The update with the multiplayer dungeons is a huge miss though, definitely lost me there. If you have a full party it might be fun but if you're a solo player or in a small group then you're basically SoL. The few I did were pretty boring tbh, just lots of mobs running at you like zombies. Kind of adds new materials for crafting unique items that are really only usable in said dungeons however, so it's probably no real loss if you don't enjoy them.

I am yet to come back for the Melodies of the Mire, might wait until 1.0 as I can't face RNGezuz any more.

Review as of Early Access.

There are games that just become great - and this is one that's on that path - and will hopefully stay there. Early Access is just the "thing" now, so you have to be patient with this reality and the constant updates/expansions. That being said, there's currently plenty to do and the multiplayer/co-op is executed very well. Minimal crashes or glitches and they've updated some of the quest progression dynamics. As a VERY long time gamer, I've seen many games come and go - I see this as up there with the likes of Satisfactory, Valheim, Grounded, Fallout, The Forest (first one), Subnautica (both), Green Hell, Conan Exiles and all the "top tier" games survival/co-op/base building. The world is fairly large now with several biomes/areas as well as dungeon areas (Hallow Halls) which can turn into 2, 3 or even 4 hour missions each. Just don't exit a Hallowed Hall before you've completed each Hallowed Hall or you'll lose your progress and have to start it all over again. We learned this after the second hour of progression and stopped to have dinner.

The graphics are beautiful, the game play and combat is satisfying (lots of skill customization, warrior, barbarian, ranger, wizard - many more) - they're still tweaking it - and the base building is nice but still a bit "wonky". The NPC enemies are predictive but change with levels so that adds a bit of challenge (they're tweaking it). Weapons have a great selection with different buffs and attributes. A point of note is that there are several pre-built structures in the game already that can serve as perfectly good "base" areas and I appreciate that since you have a limited amount of Flame Altars you can create for expansion or multi-base purposes. I as many people, set up my main base at the Blue Goblet tavern (you'll find it) since it was nicely laid-out and in good condition with lots of space on 4 levels - basement through attic. Just plop down a flame altar inside or next to it and bingo - instant base build in a fairly central location. It also has enough space for "necessary" farming of plants and food items, but if you want to build a "farm" layout, there's a few flatter areas in the world - just need to build your own structures.

You won't go wrong with this game if you enjoy multiplayer/survival/co-op/base building in the Fantasy Genre with friends. Just note you'll want more and more content as you finish-up the existing quests. A bit more character customization would be welcome - but again, they have a good road map and I'm hopeful they'll keep to it. I especially like the upgrade-able glider feature of the game which makes travel around the world easier and a lot of fun.

All in all depending on what you think of the price I highly recommend playing this game. It's one of the games you think about when you're not playing it - and that says a lot.

It's a good game for 30 bucks. It's just very frustrating. Here's my pros and cons list.

Pros:
-Probably some of the best building in a survival/crafting game.
-The world is vast and looks great.

Cons:
-I'm SO sick of dying to the red river of death. You can't see anything when you're gliding in the mist, and what looks like solid land is a river of lava? that basically insta kills you. I swear they put it in the most random places too. Oh, you fell in a hold in the middle of a building? River of lava. Trying to get to a waypoint? Sorry gotta go all the way around the map. River of lava. Random hole in the middle of rocks? Guess again, river of lava. I have literally only died to enemies a handful of times, the vast majority of my deaths are to this river of lava. It's so frustrating.
-Combat is good for the most part but repetitive and blocking seems to work only half the time? Also is seem you can get your swing interupted by enemy swings, but you can beat on a skeleton and he'll swing his sword through all your attacks like he's not being beat on.
-GOOD LUCK WITH RATS IF YOU HAVE A 2H WEAPON. My god, that has to be one of the most annoying things in the game is getting your ass beat by rats because your character literally cannot hit them with a 2h weapon.
-I feel like crafting a well for water and a bigger backpack takes far too long. I'm level 15 and still have the OG backpack. Kind of annoying at this point.
-Is it just me or does leveling take waaaay too long?
-Enemies and bosses are fairly easy, and then the first "main boss" of the story absolutely destroys you. Kind of unbalanced. Found out if you reinvest your points into archery and make lots of copper arrows, its kind of a cheese.
-Also why are there so many ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hills and mountains that force you to take an extra 5 minute walk to get to a location?

Maybe I just suck at the game. Idk. i REALLY want to like this game, but the little annoyances just add up and frustrate me when I die because of some stupid BS.
