A prime example that extraction games don't need PvP to be fun and challenging!

This amount of care, polish, and attention to detail should be in every game release.

So I will start off by saying that it's definitely a Bethesda game. Bethesda writing, character designs, environments, inventory systems, etc etc etc. For me this is a good thing, because I generally like Bethesda's RPGs. It is not seamless, it has a multitude of short loading screens and transitions. Don't go into this game expecting Star Citizen or No Man's Sky. That isn't what this is. This is a Bethesda RPG set in space.

Character customization is very in depth. You could spend hours creating your perfect character. I've already seen famous person recreations in this system and they all look good. Along with customization, Bethesda has added a new spin on the Perk system which I've been enjoying. It requires you to use your skills to achieve certain goals before you can use a level point to unlock the next tier. I should also mention that there is no level limit, so if you spend a point you regret you can correct it later.

The ground combat is very similar to Fallout 4, as you'd expect, and still fun. The enemy AI has improved since Fallout and Skyrim, though there is always room for improvement. Some people find the combat a little easy, and that is a fair assessment, but that doesn't mean it can't be challenging at times.

The story is pretty good so far, and you get dumped straight into it. You don't have to follow it, though, and can just roam around doing repeatable missions and side quests to your heart's content. It's advised that you follow it up to a certain point to ensure that you have all of your gameplay features unlocked. Trust me, you'll know when that is.

The spaceship bit is new for Bethesda, but they've done it pretty well. There are endless combinations of ship parts for building, with each brand of part giving you something different compared to a similar part from their competitor. Overall it's very in depth and detailed, with enough help systems to ensure you don't make a lemon of a ship.

The starship combat is done well. The ability to balance power between systems on your ship affects how the ship performs, as does your crew's skills. Overall it feels responsive and easy to understand, while still having depth and challenge.

Outpost building, while I haven't quite figured out a point to it aside from resource production and manufacture, works pretty well. Survey planets and set up mining outposts, create a logistics chain to bring the resources to a manufacturing area, research, make, and sell stuff. Build a space mansion out of habitat modules and decorate, if that is your thing.

Exploration is pretty fun. The planets are visually pleasing, with lots of little POIs spread around wherever you land with valuable rewards. Flora, fauna, and mineral resources abound. Planetary environments vary greatly and cataloging different planets is rewarded.

Bugs for me have been minimal, usually falling into the normal category of amusing but not game-breaking Bethesda bugs.

Overall this is a good game, and I've enjoyed it so far. It easily has several dozen hours of content. It's up to you to determine if you're willing to spend $70-$100 on it, though.

A survival game that looks simple on the surface, but has a surprising amount of depth.

This is a fun little horror game to spend an hour or two on. It isn't a difficult game, if that's what you're looking for, but it can have some challenges for players. It is not long, you'll likely finish it in under two hours, but I enjoyed the time I spent on it.

A good MMORPG that took way too long to get to Steam.

A welcome addition to the Souls games, and far more accessible to players who may not have liked the previous games.

I don't normally care much for ARPGs, however this one has been quite good. The story is enjoyable if simple, and the action combat is fun and feels great. Add to that the MMO features, and you've got a game that's certainly worth a few hours of your time.

An original world set in a sparsely-used time period in games, I've found New World to be a fun and refreshing take on the MMO genre.
