I recently started playing Conan Exiles for the first time. So, keep in mind that my review will be from the perspective of someone playing the game in 2024 (Age of War). However, you will notice that some of the bugs I mention in this review have been around since the launch of the game.

Let me start by saying if you enjoy survival games, you will be facing many trials in this game that will test your ability to survive. That sounds great, right? It is a survival game after-all. Wrong. The most challenging test of your ability to survive in Conan Exiles will be surviving the many bugs, and I'm not talking about cool Helldiver bugs, I'm talking about terrible code.

If you are like me, you have played Ark: Survival Evolved/Ascended. You will feel right at home in Conan Exiles, because many of the bugs that plague this game will be very familiar to you. Inventory bugs (things disappearing from your inventory and vaults), the game dropping things from your inventory other than the thing you selected to drop, falling through the floor, rubber-banding, and your character/followers getting stuck on literally anything and everything.

Speaking of thralls and pets, they are trash in 2024. They have been nerfed so many times that playing the game in 2024 feels like you don't have pets or thralls, and they now take forever to level to 20, so that makes losing them to bugs even more upsetting. Let me explain: Back to my previous point of getting stuck on everything, the game has a lot of issues with meshing and getting stuck. This includes the terrain itself, rocks, trees, enemies, buildings. You name it, you can get stuck on it and die or have your thralls killed. Just yesterday I lost a high level thrall to it getting stuck between an enemy and a rock, and completely ignoring my command for it to follow me. These aren't 2021 thralls, they don't have 17k hp. They likely have 7k hp or less. They can and will die to any "mistake" as it is often referred to in the forums. In my opinion, a mistake is when the player does something wrong. You cannot control your followers getting stuck in/on rocks, enemies, trees, and buildings. So at that point you just lost days of work.

Items disappearing/dropping incorrect items: This is a fun one that is also a bug in other survival games (totally not the same code copied into 8 different games in the genre). The other day I lost a vault, because the game dropped the vault out of my inventory when I was dropping seeds. I know this because the seeds were still in my inventory, and the vault decayed in a bag according to the game log. We also lost the entire inventory of a camel (30 slots of mats) while relocating our base, as the camel got stuck in a rock and when it teleported to us it's inventory was wiped. We also had 1,000 steel reinforcements (I don't even want to list how many mats that is) completely go missing while putting stuff in vaults. It just vanished and had no record in the event log. Funcom conveniently has a policy in place that they are not allowed to replace any lost items, thralls, pets, or characters. That policy is honestly pretty standard for current survival games, because they don't want to staff a team of people who have to clean up their mess related to bad code if they can get away with it.

All of the issues I have run into have been in the past week that I have played the game. There are many more that I didn't list here such as characters falling through floors into lava, water (drowning), and dying in their bases. This happens while people are offline sleeping, so bye bye legendaries and whatever you had in your inventory.

This game has given me some good times in the 110 hours I have played it, and also a lot of bad times, as is to be expected with modern day survival games. With that being said, I cannot recommend this game to anyone who hasn't already spent money on it. Are you up for the challenge? Can you survive Funcom's labyrinth of bugs?

I feel like the possibilities are endless with this game when it comes to creativity and base building which is something I love. Add in the fact you can have all kinds of different "followers" and mounts and it makes for a lot of fun to be had! It's fun solo but can get kind of boring, definitly more fun with friends! <3

After 6k hours in the game i decided to write a short review.

Do i recommend this game? Mostly NO! -Why? Mostly because the devs don't give a sh,t to fixing a tons of bugs, server performance issues what you still experiencing in the game. The reporting system is a joke on official servers! Anyone can basically report you and with no warrning you can be banned from all official servers. And to contacting back to the admins is another waste of time as you wont have any answer. They simply DONT GIVE A ♥♥♥♥!
Since they added the Bazar system in the game this is just leech from those who likes to add more stuff to their base to make it more epic and fun to build. And from all those money what you paying for that you would expect a more stable game with less bugs and so on...but you just wasted your money on this as devs not fixing years long bugs what is stil in the game. Instead you have more (PVE) content with more bugs.

The only Good thing about in this game is the building system and the various designs with build your own base. No other survival game have that atm.
If you just want a game for build this game is still value. But don't expect more! Pvp system is garbage as devs keep changing the core of the game in every half year. With a lack of server performance your biggest enemy is the lagg on pvp time in a populated server.
