I can play for a couple of hours sometimes 5 - 6 hours. Once I log out and and try to log back in, I get an error message kicking me. I have to uninstall game delete all files and re install to play again. Just for the same thing to happen again a day or so later. The problem is well known for years from what I can read and they still haven't fixed it. So no I wouldn't bother if you are looking to get into something.

New World, in a TL;DR, feels like a mediocre fantasy-themed FPS game with RPG systems & ideas shoe-horned into it. The game features a great many systems but utterly fails at being "good" at anything in particular. This is a game where the identity crisis between PvE & PvP MMO is fully illustrated by milquetoast implementations of both systems in virtually all applicable areas of the game. I do believe the game is at least worth a try but NOT at the asking price of $60 and MMO players should not approach this game with the same level of expectations they have for some other similar titles on the market. The breakdown:

Pros:
• The game is beautiful. I think this is the best looking MMORPG as of 2025
• Most systems are easy to pick up.
• Harvesting / Fishing / Crafting is absolutely the best of any game in the MMO space.
• Combat is reasonably fun with most weapons (though your success with them may vary).
• I had constantly good performance / frame rate while playing with a not-entirely high end system.

Cons:
• The game has a severe identity crisis - I'd call it a MMO jack of all trades, which isn't really a good thing given the scope a game of this nature needs to fulfill to be satisfying.
• The game is in maintenance mode. There is no content coming. The horsemen are drawing nearer.
• Artifact gear perk unlocks are awful. As a player, having to work for the gear in the first place, now needs to work more to be able to utilize the item I already worked to earn? I might as well be able to name & design the item since I did all the work of making the item actually useful...This is the worst item system feature I've ever seen in an MMO.
• This game, hands-down, sucks to play solo. Not only do the solo player incentives suck, solo players have to engage in social hour to be competitive. There is NO avenue, market or otherwise, to supplement hard-working solo players on a consistent basis.
• Limited & annoying PvE content: this is a game where the players *endure* raids and dungeons. I have yet to meet someone who plays this game that does not express dismay about the end-game PvE content.
• Too reliant on emergent content (players) for a satisfactory experience - when a server becomes low population you might as well move on.
• Transmog is too locked down to real dollars, making the system financially prohibitive.
• Too much stat management & minutiae from secondary items is both required and expected for the game to just be fun.
• Too much weapon meta - tons of the best items you'll find are just garbage that you can't even trade to other players.
• Must re-do MSQ for seasonal servers. Sucks pretty hard and just seems like a E2I shoe-in for player retention.
• Too many hoops to get to the fun - let's be real: the only fun here is PVP and if you ain't in a guild this game tells you to get bent on the PvP (and therefore; the fun).
• Housing items should NOT provide buffs - it makes zero sense, simply forces players to have to decorate as a requirement for the garbage PvE raids.
• PvP requires too much commitment for how unrewarding it is. Racing everyday just feels like a bad job.
• Guild-focus is a detriment, should have focused on wider faction based initiatives like ye olde Dark Age of Camelot.
• Auto-lock is a bit too powerful to help console players with ranged weapons for PvE.
• Gear upgrades are not impactful nor satisfying to obtain + lots of gear is not useful for any build. Any game where the best items are gems needs to fire the designer who does itemization. Seriously, you are the problem with games today.
• Game and DLC are super over priced for what is offered + the season pass + cash shop. For real. CS offers more for less.
• Gold sellers are spamming all day, every day.
• Micro stuttering - this is especially in the Elysian Wilds.

Overall, this game is not currently worth the time or effort, which truly is a shame given some of the features in this game that are utterly exemplary in their application.

Look the game is fun. Will it be for everyone? No, but for people who like MMOs, pretty scenery and decent storylines, its worth at least a try. Once you buy you can play anytime you want, even a couple years later you can pick it up and resume where you left off.

BTW, the game works GREAT on Linux, not sure why it's listed as "playable". It works flawlessly.
