I am not a fan of horror games. I am, by admission of myself, my friends, and my family: a wuss. This game, however, is something much more than just a horror game. For one, I love the ocean, having grown up on the coast, and for two I am terrified of the ocean, having grown up on the coast and playing Subnautica at a formative age.
So, seeing the artstyle, and the setting, I decided to pick this one up and give it a try.
Here's what I have to say about it:
It is a good ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game.
The way the story slowly ramps up and reveals itself, allowing you to connect the dots; the way the visuals capture your attention and hold it; the way the atmosphere is consistently tense, making you feel like there is always something lurking just below you.
A particular shoutout to the DLCs of the game, which I feel are a perfect example of how to do DLC right in a modern game. They expand upon and add parallel systems to the game that are additive and improve your experience on the high seas of DREDGE.
The Journey to 100% is as well an amazingly refreshing change of pace from most other modern games. There is very little grind outside of the main game, most achievements will be partially or even fully completed just by playing through the story. The achievements pace themselves well, and overall I would recommend it to anyone looking for a first blue ribbon just as easily as I would recommend it to someone looking to collect their hundredth.

Edit: Came back to this review because this game has been living in my head rent free. The 13th time I mentioned it to someone asking what games to 100% for am enjoyable challenge and found myself wanting PHYSICAL MERCH from the game I realized it deserved so much better than an 8/10. It is, I fear, Peak.
10/10, too much water.
