Large majority of the negative reviews aren't about the game itself.

Overall It's not better than GOW2018 in my personal opinion, but it's still really good.

The port is pretty mid, performance is good but audio mixing is messed up in some areas, you don't get controller rumble unless plugged in, no FOV slider. Small things like that, but not an awful port.

The combat is essentially the same from 2018, but unfortunately a lot of i-frames were removed for some odd reason, making fights feel very weird and annoying.

You no longer get i-frames when performing a runic attacks, so if your runic does no stun damage, enemies will just swing through them while you're stuck in the animation. This takes a lot of the fun out of the combat imo.

I understand wanting to make the game more challenging, but this is not the way to do it. Runic attacks are half of the fun, and you now get punished for using them. Same goes for the new shield bash moves, new cool move but no i-frames so I get hit for using it.

Why am I getting punished for wanting to do cool moves in a GOW game?

Aside from that, the combat is the same.

Naturally the story isn't as focused as 2018 given the circumstances of the plot. But I have some issues with how it's handled in some areas. Pacing is not the best, and Kratos sometimes feels like he's stuck in a Marvel movie.

Ironwood section is so long I was bored to tears.

Concept and visuals are great but execution is super boring.

Apart from upgrading the car I found pretty much nothing stimulating about this game.

The story is told through people speaking on a radio, and it's very easy to miss information. I quickly lost track of it and ended not caring much. Voice acting is decent though.

The game play loop is quite repetitive despite the maps changing after every run. Same buildings, same enemies, just arranged differently. The deeper you get in your run the environment does visually evolve and get more interesting though.

Terrain sometimes makes the car driving a chore, and the enemies quickly become an annoyance rather than an interesting obstacle.

I quickly found myself rolling my eyes every time something got in my way, but that might just be because of how bored I was and wanted to just get back to the shop. (Back to the good part).

I heard this game was very similar to Outer Wilds, and I promise you that is the biggest lie I've heard this year. I found no similarities apart from maybe some visually similar events. So if you heard the same thing and want a similar experience to OW, this is not it.

It sucks that I can't recommend this game, since I did enjoy a lot of parts about it, manly the ones focused around the car itself, but the other half of the game was just so repetitive and boring that it hurt my overall experience.

Crazy how a game with so many issues still manages to be so good.

This game is fine at best, critically speaking it's not the worst game ever made but man personally it's extremely unenjoyable. I don't hate it due to liking specific areas in the game, but the cons outweigh the pros overall.

The only aspect of difficulty here is the number of enemies you fight at once, probably less than 5 bosses have interesting or challenging movesets that feels like a proper souls game. The rest are very mediocre and easy bosses, and quite a few with add spam or just multiple AI in general. If that’s something you hate, then you will hate this game.

I personally feel like whenever a boss fight involves fighting multiple AI at once it cheapens the fight and makes it more annoying than difficult, especially when the boss itself has barely any move sets. All souls games have fights like this, but this game uses this in way too many bosses. Kinda makes me feel like they just didn't know how to make them difficult otherwise.

Hitboxes/hurtboxes are really inconsistent due to the i-frames being delegated by the ADP stat, and even after leveling you will still encounter unfair damage taken. The best way to explain this is to imagine playing the game at a high ping, and taking damage even though you rolled on your side of the screen. It’s not game breaking but makes some bosses feel like trash when they aren’t.

The only thing this game does well over DS1 is probably the views, and the color palette. Instead of having muted greens and brown, it’s much brighter and more colorful, there are also really cool cinematic set pieces. It also has a bunch of content, and a pretty solid deal if you get it on sale.

Ultimately my main issue with this game is the add spam and crowd control in both boss fights and normal areas, it is simply a lazy way to add difficulty to an otherwise pretty easy game. And if you don’t care about continuity and just want to get into the souls series I would just avoid this one, especially if it’s not on sale.

Side note: Get used to killing enemies 12 times in a row to get passed horrendous boss runs.

When I got this game for free when I bought my new PC I was so disappointed, the trailers made it look like absolute garbage and I would be lying if I said the Avengers game wasn't tainting my views on it. But man was I wrong, I cannot imagine myself ever trying this game if I didn't receive it for free... so when I heard that it was actually good I was like why not? 9/10 Would play again.. sooo much better than I could ever imagine, and I was never into Guardians of the Galaxy, watched the movies afterwards and this game is better. I do feel like $60 might be a little much, so if you get it on sale even better, though if you do spend that much you will not come out disappointed.

I played Until Dawn 5 years ago and remember the names of every single character in it....

I played Man of Medan 9 months ago and cannot remember a single name... that should tell you enough on how good the story is.

Hopefully the next story isn't as bad

I’ll get this out of the way and say that Boneworks was the second VR game I ever played after Half-Life Alyx... and I strongly believe HLA has definitely played a role in my experience. I came in expecting the same level of polish but simply came out disappointed. So here is my very biased review lol.

Overall I would define Boneworks as a “tech demo” or “VR Gmod” rather than a game, as much as you’d hate to hear that, the game didn’t feel to have much structure both in visual storytelling or narratively. You’re dropped in without any sort of sense of direction, you just keep on moving forward on what seems to be the right way, go through some puzzles, fight some enemies, explore, and that’s about as deep as it gets.

For the first hour or two it really is a blast, the world seems interesting and mechanically it feels like you have complete freedom.

But once that phase starts to fade you realize the game has to offer very little to keep you interested in its 8+ hour campaign. Gameplay can only hold a game on it’s back for a few hours until a compelling story takes over and gives you a reason to keep playing, this game doesn’t do that.

The glimpses of any “story” is sectioned off into videos that you find with terrible and extremely boring acting, which I use lightly, it’s more like someone just reading off of a script and signing out. So naturally you’d eventually prefer playing the game and skip these videos. So you’re left with basically no story and hope that the environments are interesting enough for you to plow through more of the rinse and repeat gameplay loop.

So is the gameplay good?

Personally it is very mediocre, and here is where I just couldn’t stop going back and thinking “HLA did it better”. I found movement very clunky, shooting very unsatisfying, and climbing/parkouring just a nightmare. Half of the time my in game body would only get in the way.

Gameplay overall is super repetitive with a loop that consists of exploring, finding & shooting enemies, moving to another environment, and sometimes having to do a puzzle/parkour in between. And all aspects of it are just not that impressive, you’re never blown away by any situations or environments, as a matter of fact it is quite underwhelming sometimes.

And this is the part where I felt like I was playing a tech demo showing off gameplay physics rather than an actual game with a story to tell and invest myself into. So to put it simply, it is boring.

Yes the gameplay might be good… but if you’re someone who has played HLA before, this game is nowhere near impressive at all. Other than clunky climbing mechanics you’re not missing out on anything by not spending $30 on what essentially is a tech demo trying to show you mechanical achievements that have already been polished to a T in HLA.

This didn’t feel like a $30 game, I would get it on sale or not get it at all… Unless you’re not planning on buying HLA or have yet to play HLA, I cannot recommend this game full price.

One side note I’ll add is that I do see this game growing as a base for other games, like Gmod, all this game has to offer is the mechanics and building blocks for someone to actually try to make something worth playing. Huge potential for a workshop, once that’s possible I’d 100% recommend it.

Far:Lone Sails really is a game meant only for certain type of people, people who enjoy relaxing and engaging gameplay once every now and then, or perhaps even enjoy looking at the beautiful art style this game has to offer.

Cons: I will start by saying the one and only downside to this game and it’s it price point compared to the amount of time it will take you to beat it. Currently the game is around $15 on the Steam store and it takes around 2 hours to beat. Due to how linear it is, and how I believe every single playthrough you go through would feel the exact same, I think the game is not worth the $15. So if you’re thinking of getting it I would wait for it to be on sale for around $9.99 or so.

Pros: Now for the pros, I would say that this games strong suit is the engaging gameplay and how it puts in maintenance duty of this really interesting looking vehicle with no reason but to just keep moving forward. Story is bit light and kinda left to interpretation, not a bad thing of course because near the end of the game you CARE for the vehicle and you CARE for the small character you play as. In every obstacle or event that happens you’re intrigued on what is going to happen or what is the piece that solves the puzzle.
The game, even though it’s colors are pretty washed out and simple, is amazing to look at. It fills you with wonder of what happened to the world that you’re traveling on and there is various traits of a passed civilization living there. The art style is very reminiscent of Inside and so is some of the environment, the weather effects and music really come together nicely and make for a great experience overall.

In conclusion buy this game once it’s on sale, it really is a treat to play and just take a small 2 to 3 hour break from other more action packed games. But due keep in mind that it generally doesn’t have much replay value sadly.

So I’ll begin by saying that I barely started playing the AC franchise since the beginning of 2017, bought every single game and played them chronologically from the first one to this one. And man I am very disappointed with Origins.

Pros: Cannot deny the fact that this game looks and sounds amazing, the animations and the world detail are really nice to look at. Other than the graphics the story is really entertaining and Bayek as a character is interesting, I would say he’s like a connor but actually has emotions and personality. That’s about it though

Cons: This isn’t AC… if you love the order games and their mechanics then you are gonna hate this game like I did, unless you're willing to forget everything AC is and embrace what it has turned to now. The only thing this game has that is AC is the title and some gadgets and small segments that link back to the first civilization.

My number one complaint is that this is no longer a stealth game. It does everything on its power to discourage you from being stealthy, gadgets that would aid you to make a quick kill without being spotted are no longer really viable in this one. And most of this is caused because they had the brilliant idea of making AC an “RPG” where stabbing someone through the neck with your hidden blade doesn't kill then because they're like 2 or 3 levels above you. That’s not what AC is.

Leveling is terrible, it is a nuisance that forces you to do side missions in order to be able to progress through the story, and they are not fun side missions, they get so repetitive and just cannot be any more boring. It take so much XP to level up only once so you have to do multiple side missions and is the main reason why it would take you nearly 30 hours to be the main story, the game is unnecessarily long. If it didn’t block you from just playing main missions then It would only take around 10 to 15 hours to beat, and you save yourself from tedious missions that don't mean anything at the end.

I don’t understand why they messed with the parkour aspect of the game… Unity had the best parkour and Syndicate only made it a bit easier to do… but now they made it just like it was on AC3 where your character would just start climbing walls for no reason... or just magnets to different spots because it thinks you want to go there even though it wouldn’t make any sense why you would want to go there, and it’s gets you killed or spotted a lot of times. While in Unity is was the smoothest experience ever, with not hiccups and precise movement that it felt cinematic.

I get that they tried doing something new but removing almost everything I loved from the series and making something that shouldn't be called AC in the first place really isn’t innovation in my opinion.
They should’ve just stuck with the old AC formula and stopped making a new protagonist every game.
