The quality of this game is a contentious issue in the community.
If you like Souls games, this is one of them.
It has all of the things that you like about Souls games (I mean, it IS part of the genre-defining series),
but is also includes many questionable and likely experimental features that hugely detract from the experience.
It also has some great innovations, but for me personally they pale against the negatives.

I would only suggest you play this game if you have prior experience with the Souls series and have to come enjoy the Souls games you have played thus far. If you want to play some more of its kind, then this game is a natural choice.
Just be aware that it suffers from unintuitively large hitboxes, iframe-durations tied to a character stat, further punishment for dying in the form of progressive hollowing and much more.

You can find loads of justified negative critique for this game.
It truly is as they say: "Dark Souls 2 is not a bad game, it is a bad souls game."
Still, its faults are bad enough that I decided to not recommend it.

I have 9h in this game and i tried to like it.
But a caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaant.
the controls,movement and rly slow healing,not to mentin all the other nit picks.
If u expect it to be like dark souls 1 or 3 dont.
