Where do I begin, such a promising game; the franchise of Rainbow Six calls for realism and this game does deliver it.

However the game sadly falls short in several aspects namely there is no expansion on who the terrorists in terrorist hunt are, who are they? what is the goal? why do they all where white masks and matching hoodies? This is never answered. When i first watched the cinematics when i first played this it hyped me up for a singleplayer I knew wasnt there and only made me want to explore this aspect of the game more, that however is not an option.

Terrorist hunt

As for terrorist hunt the gamemode I see no issue with it, they provide a classic mode that is a replica of the origional hunt mode along with some defense and offense gamemode based on hostages and bombs, this is good because it allows as more casual but still difficult alternative to the multiplayer.

Multiplayer/PVP

The multiplayer portion of the game is odd; when I first played it in the beta I fell in love with the operators and their special abilities along with the destruction of the maps that are avalible for any mode. However, when the game launched into its live retail stage somthing was wrong very very wrong and in some ways remains so to this day, the animations where not exact for every player and in some cases would allow players to shoot around corners they where not visible around.

This was only one problem that plauged the game on release as then the "cheaters"(I would call the Hackers but 90% of them probably downloaded someone elses cheats to ruin the game, so cheaters) arrived and although there has been a massive decrease in the amount of cheaters ingame you still get the occasional wallhacker or aimbotter the former much more than the latter.

Gameplay wise there isnt much wrong with the game, characters movement speed is relational to their armor level tanky operators are much slower than lightweight ops, this also means that characters have a "weight" to their movements. The gunplay is okay but in some cases clunky as a result of a poor connection to the server, making some engagements end before one person knows its begun as players will "appear around corners with their models often being a full second behind the active player.

All in all the game is "Alright"
Its not perfect and could have done with some polishing and refinement to several aspects of the game.

I would only partially recommend the game, if you can pick it up on sale it wouldnt be a bad idea

Its also MUCH MORE FUN WITH FRIENDS.

Explosions while walking, explosions while parachuting, explosions while wingsuiting.

EXPLOSIONS EVERYWHERE!!!

10/10 would Michael Bay again

To be honest this game is great somewhat short and the online leaderboard is annoying but beyond that the game is solid plays well on a system that dosent even meet the minimum cpu requirement(im on an i5 2400) with the game running at 60 fps most of the time and sometimes dropping to 30 when everything is EXPLODING!!!

A Hideo Kojima Game

10/10

Offline is great online is crap, at its core the game is amazing but the online is terrible to date, filled with hackers and the likes and horrible DLC.

Konami ruined the game though. Cant leave the game for a week without coming back and seeing "failed to defend FOB" so much for optional, oh and the fact that if you want to develop a new gun you will have to wait 15 DAYS!!!! or pay real money for MB coins to pay for it to finish

IF YOU DONT WANT FOB's BLOCK THE GAME ON YOUR FIREWALL AND DONT UNBLOCK IF YOU UNBLOCK AFTER THE FIRST FOB MISSION IT WILL BUILD IT FOR YOU EVEN IF YOU DENY TOS.

Spend your money on somthing that wont tease you with somthing good then rub your nose in crap after the first half.

Sloppy unfinished and only half of a good game

*edit if you play activly dont expect many raids the people who are still raiding only attack people who are inactive to avoid retaliation.

The game is great same old reliable GTA I know and love apart from the usual day 1 issue like camera bugs(primarily in 1st person cam) everything else is good I only experience one crash in a whole 12.2 hours of game-time prior to this review.
Though on two separate occasions during the playtime I attempted to play in a public online match this was met with a rather alarming amount of "lag" promptly after both occasions I lost connection to the server.
Other than those Day 1 issues great game I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the franchise for both the multiplayer and singleplayer aspects of the game.

9/10 Happy to recommend

The game itself isn’t that bad, but in the end it comes down the substandard optimisation and the overall bug ridden Paris that the game is based in. The Gameplay is decent animations are smooth and the amount of NPC's is great but it seems as if it’s either the lighting or the large clusters of NPC's that are causing severe frame rate drops (as low as 15-20FPS) in most cases. Even when running at low settings literally scraping the bottom of the barrel are there a boost in frame rate. So in the end it comes down to the technical problems with the game not the game itself. If we could get this without the severe lack of optimisation it would be a great game

ARMA has persisted through its many iterations as a game that focuses on warfare and simulates It to a very realistic level. I have reasons to like and dislike the game it has a fairly steep learning curve, but asking for help will usually yield decent results due to a active community. In my opinion the game has a bit of work needed in the field of optimization and server stability however beyond those two things the game is relatively strong in most areas.

Other than that i would recommend this game to anyone who was a fan of the Operation Flash-point games and is looking for a good open world military simulator.

1,358 hour edit: This game has evolved greatly from the alpha (around the time the above was written) into a high quality military simulator one of the great things about this game is its mod support and mission making aspects. This is great when combined with an active community and this game has just that. The best part of the modability is that mods range from anything as silly as swapping bullets for rabbits, to mods that revamp almost all game mechanics to make an ultra realistic and difficult expirience.

2 Years have past since I posted the original review and I would say the same thing now; I recommend this game to anyone who was a fan of the Operation flashpoint games and is looking for a great and challenging expirience.

Yet another update... at almost 2000 hours this game still provides amazing gameplay and new things to do through modding, this game just keeps on going.

2021 update: Is Good
