$5.99 for some missions... why not some content considering this game is still lacking compared to Arma 2

Get To The Orage Door is a game that I first saw just a few weeks before its release, the game at its core is a parkour first person shooter with a neon artstyle that is complemented perfectly by its soundtrack.

I cant help but see some similarities between this and another game that I love Titanfall. GTTOD allows for great mobilitiy and movement though it can sometimes feel somewhat clunky with movement often feeling iffy at times an example of this; The game allows for a slide whilst sprinting, this action gives you a great deal of speed but is difficult to utilise in general movement because you are unable to jump and retain the velocity of the jump.

Gunplay isnt to bad and works well with the movement of the player, melee combat is also a viable option or hostiles can be ignored altogether. The game holds a modest amound of weapons, from a sword to assult rifles.

The visuals at the time of writing are solid but there is a substantial amount of glare on illuminated objects(This has been mentioned by the developer and may be changed) the game does seem rather short though, I think that this is one of those instances where the game might benefit from a workshop style map editor but thats just an idea.

Enemy AI seems to be rather odd, they can see through walls and generally have insane accuracy that is only offset by player movement, this does work to promote rapid movement and generally speeds up gameplay.

I like this games soundtrack...

Overall GTTOD is solid but could do with some quality of life improvements. In its current state I would probably recommend at least keeping an eye on this game as it is very promising.

Oh and the settings dont seem to save at least when it comes to changing volume values.

After many hours playing this game I can say a few things about my experience.

1. The game is a buggy mess;

getting locked into a bipod and not being able to move without suicide, failures to reload (especially on the m79, reloads blocking bandages and often causing bleedouts

And my favourite of all, invisible walls... In most maps this is not an issue but there is a few key points to make mention of,

Hue city
(On Hue if you are down the road from the bridge past charlie you can see through the sheet metal and sandbag barricades underneath it)

Chu Chi
(On Chu Chi you can see through all baracade items and some trenches in D and E from the top of A's main red buliding. This leads to snipers shooting at or through walls and a generally bad time for anyone on the VC side)

Head glitching; how hard is it to make bullets come out of the gun instead of the head...

General things about the game

The game is fun, I will give it that. However this is often destroyed by things the game just seems to get wrong

Team markers
Often team markers are just not visible even up close, this often leads to friendly fire among those less gifted in the looking before we shoot mindset.

Commander balancing
The american commander is far more offensive than the VC commander with the spooky gunship, arty and napalm while the VC has Hoh Chi Min Trail, arty and Anti Air

I cant help but feel that there is some serious inbalance here as in RO2 commanders had identical supports while I understand the reasoning for this in RS2 i cant help but feel there is somthing to be desired here.

Guns
Not complaining about choices of weapons however, there seems to be difference between weapon damage, the M14 feels like it does the same damage as the M16 and the AK SKS and Mosin all feel the same with the only difference being fire rate and magazine size.

Ping
Why is it that all of the servers regardless of location dont seem to be able to hold a stable ping, once a server fills it is unlikley anyone will see decent ping with often 70+ average on local servers.

Summary

I want to like this game, I really do. But I just cant in its current state.

At this point 19th of December 2017 I would not recommend this game.

Gotta say this game hits the right points its still a bit clunky here and there but so far I have had a good time with only a few performance issues in prolonged play.

The multiplayer worked well with minimal issues only thing myself and my mate noticed was sometimes things would show differently between players such as missing items (fixed by picking up and replacing) invisible trade platform rockets (they would only show for the host) but besides that it was an good time would definitly recommend.

The game died.

So they made it free 2 play, along with somehow making it a bug ridden grind fest with everyone spamming wraith. The once stealth now combat based monster that is overpowered.

What was a promising game that was killed by DLC in a glorious way was turned into a free2play game that is most likely going to become the most pay2win game on the market with time.

Dont believe me just wait and see.

I would have recommended this game if the endgame wasnt terrible, unbalanced and just overly broken.

The Good
- Great graphics
- Decent gunplay
- Ok story
The Bad
- Cheaters
- Boring and broken endgame
- Massively unbalanced dark zone in endgame with nowhere near enough player brackets to ensure fair fights
- Not much to do after campaign completion
- Terrible managment of weapon stats (at the moment SMG's are the only guns anyone uses due to crit chance)
- Named bosses do not respawn in PVE
- Pheonix credits (these almost function as a pay 2 win currency although they cannot be purchased, they also have an increadibly small cap on how many you can have)
- Walking in and out of base
- The biggest problem in my eyes is the fact that at one point protection from elites didnt protect you at all it in fact boosted the damage they did. This in a way shows that massive dosent know what they are doing, or just has no quality assurance. (But then again when did ubisoft care about quality)
- The fact that at the moment the DLC IS THE CLOSEST THING TO A FIX FOR THIS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GAME and it costs money...

My rating 10 point scale

Pre endgame
7\10
Not amazing but fun

Endgame
3\10
Boring, repedative mess of cheating in PVP, kicking at the end of missions to no allow people to get their loot and an obvious lack of care by an oblivious developer

*March 2017 Update*

Microtransactions...

Nice one Ubisoft a bit of an early April fools joke though, dont you think?

So Doom, its fun.

Only real problem with it is the glory kills as cool as it is at first it gets old fast.

Snapmap is extremely limited compared the custom wads of the old games.

Multiplayer, its basicly trying to be quake. It has its strong points but there isnt much to it, at the moment it seems as if you unlock everything that isnt cosmetic by lvl 17 and this can be accomplished in one night.

The campaign is the strongest part of the game, the story is ok and the gameplay is solid(besides the glory kills they make it to easy at times).

over all a decent game but it has its flaws.

At most I would give it a 7/10
Its not amazing but it is a decent reboot to the franchise.

*Edit

After getting all achievments and completing the game on ultra-nightmare I can safely say that the singleplayer is the games strongpoint, multiplayer and snapmap should have been an afterthought for id.

Dosent change my position on the game still a 7/10 in my books not perfect but still awsome.

Rip and tear.
