If you have played Bethesda RPGs (i.e. Elder Scrolls, Fallout), you pretty much know what to expect. It's more of the same, but this time in space. If you like those games, you'll probably like this one, and visa versa. Sadly, that's about all it is. It just feels like more of the same with a slightly different setting. And because they tried to make it such a large scale game, it feels like there is a lot of nothing. Personally, I would have rather had a smaller scale with more going on.

The worst part of all is that it is just kind of boring. Mostly, it just left me wanting to replay Fallout games, because if I am going to be in a Bethesda RPG, at least I want to be in one that is fun to play. (And Fallout 5 would have been much more interesting than Starfield.) I'll probably come back to it eventually, but there are just too many other really good games to sink time into something unenjoyable right now. On the bright side, they plan to support this game for years to come, so it might eventually be good.

TL;DR: It's not that bad, but it's also not that good. If it's on sale, you like Fallout and Elder Scrolls games, and you are just bored, go ahead and buy it.
