Editing after several years. Basically this game slaps and I'm looking forward to the reboot.

Right so I'm editing this review after about a year just because I don't think i went in depth enough into it, so here goes:

When this game first came out it had a lot of things to work on including the UI, mechanics, balances and overall game structure. But, nonetheless it really appealed to me(I first found out about this game from ChimneySwift11 - R.I.P. chimney). A lot of the game mechanics were very appealing to me at the time because of the transformer - esque look of the mechs, but I also enjoyed it because of the premise itself, it is in a sense a multiplayer(or bot) 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 etc map with the players having to build and place defenses to defend their base and at the same time attack and takeover neutral/enemy bases until you gained enough ground to reach the enemy base and destroy. Honestly, for the most part the game ran smoothly, worked fine most of the time and had a lively and serious community. These are what I would call the golden age of the game. I'd likely rate at about 7.5 to 8/10.

Now Slowly over the years they fixed it and tried to make it better. At this point it was getting better in some aspects but diminishing in others. I'd say the breaking point was when the first redesign came about, now i don't exactly remember what changed but I do know they moderately overhauled a large portion of the UI and the way things outside of the rounds themselves worked(obtaining turrets, vehicles, mechs etc.). Since the release the game was always slightly pay to play, at least for some aspects, but usually buying things was mainly restricted to the many(beautiful personally) skins of vehicles, turrets and mechs. When this new overhaul came, many more price changes were made that made it much harder for F2P players to get new things and win games as it started to affect the new vehicles etc. They also added this new base system which for the life of me i never understood - more to the vain of clash of clans type games without the base attacking. They also by now had a membership service for extra rewards although i cannot remember when they added this. At this point the game is sitting at a 6 or lower.

I came back to the game recently and it has a lot of new things that it needs to work on and isn't nearly as fun anymore. The UI got destroyed much more with some new overhaul that is even worse than before, there seems to be some kind of glitch with the resolution as the game overall looks horrendous and sadly nearly all of the playerbase has left. Now its just a shell of its former self. Really the only thing that has stood the test of time is the way the game itself works, which is the only thing they didn't alter, although it still gets affected by the rest of the games shortcomings.

To be honest about 3 or 4 years ago I would have recommended it in a heartbeat as i did to my friends, but now it is at best a 5, but more likely a 4/10.

I will also close this with saying that they have made some new version of the game, i haven't gotten around to but the reviews say it is bad also. Nonetheless since it is free I would say try this if you are bored(I guess that contradicts my rating but still, y'know if you feel like it), you never know, it can definitely appeal to some small amount of people, as for the other game, it costs money so take heed with that as you will.
