Any way to make it so the battery bank is a storage and you can insert batteries to be used? Similar to O2 & H2 tanks?

@Valen - it works fine - some things have not changed much for years, and as the author says it is a simple (but awesome) mod - it simply modifies the block definitions for the batteries, and includes all 3 vanilla battery types- so you are good to go! :-)

Love the mod and never play without it but LWTS batteries require even more resources making moving them an even bigger pain. Thanks for the already great mod, and hopefully you can help me out, either way its all good.

hey - really great mod - i actually just made my own version coz i hadn't found this one (i think because i was initially looking for the zero charge effect and didn't see the little bit of relevant text in the thumbnail!) - but it is the perfect solution in my mind, since the power cells should be salvageable but you shouldn't be able to get free power by simply building a battery

anyway - great mod!

I totally agree.
I tend to make sure i have a power source such as a solar panel connected to the same grid, but either way it takes a moment to get up to speed.

Hey. Thanks for the mod.I love it, but the initially unpowered state of betteries is more of a pain than I envisioned. Anywy, my work-around is to use the Power Transmitters mod as well, which allows me to charge up wirelessly from the base.

It annoys me that Keen doesn't provide some sort of flexible power connector... you know, like a cable. It just seems a ridiculous and gratutious omission on their part.

I'm not sure what would be going on for that to happen, likely just a quirk of the game.
When i'm building ships i usually whack a solar panel or something onto it, or if you have enough resources a small reactor. If its logistically possible, building your ships next to a connector helps as you can get a little bit of solar power in to connect it up and charge it.

I've been playing with this mod on a dedicated server, but we found that starting to build new ships wasn't working out as we didn't have that small battery percentage to connect it to our station. So we decided not to run the mod anymore as the powercells return was nice but not really worth it in the long run, but now that we've removed the mod batteries in the world still spawn with 0% stored and give powercells back. Could someone help me out?

You freaking rock. I wanted to hit my dead on the computer when I came back a month ago and discovered that no cells dropped when you grinding them down. Your mod works beautifully.

I haven't touched this project in a long time, and what i want to do with it would require more thorough knowledge of the Space Engineers API (which i don't have).
The way this particular mod worked was removing a few lines of XML that stated to drop scrap.
If someone wants to message me directly with information on how to physically drop different things on block destroy based on different meta values, hit me up. :)

Thinking about how power cells and batteries actually work, would this be possible? If the power is above a certain level (say 15%), it returns power cells. If below, it returns scrap? And then have the batteries build at 15% charge?

IRL lithium-based cells get damaged if left to completely die (what most people think of as a dead battery actually has about 2.8 volts of output still), but the actual cells are easily removed and replaced. They are left with a partial charge for storage (usually 30-60 percent capacity).

There's another mod here on the workshop, I think it's still here at least(I still have it), that adds "Discharged Power Cells" that are added to your inventory, problem with that is it's way outdated using alpha assets, and discharged power cells weigh a lot more than they should. The idea is you take them back to your assembler to deconstruct them and then reconstruct them as normal cells to maintain the fix on that exploit that allows someone to get free energy by rebuilding cells.

i stoped using Batteries when they changed this ended up killing me in reactor running costs and ment i had to keep even my smallest ships reactors full just to keep them usefull

I've been playing this game forever and just wanted to point out something to the newer players who may not know. What this mod does is how vanilla use to be by default.

That sounds like a good idea. The current issue right now is I don't know how to make it drop x amount if battery cells, but I did think of a way to do it, just need to get around to trying it when I'm not developing

Question, could you consider making a version though where you only recieve a portion of the cells back depending on what tool you are using to make it more like real life? In real life, it will depend on the tools used and your experience, so this is an interesting idea I've seen suggested.

Example:
Tier 1 - 50% of cells
Tier 2 - 75% of cells
Tier 3 - 100% of cells
Ship Grinder - 0 to 25% of cells to account for the fact that you're not using the careful hands of a human and instead just hacking away with a giant saw.

another downside of removing power from cells , is when ever i build small ships , i can always move them around to test if everything is fine or not , also at least i could put it onthe ship and trasnport to the "refuel" station , with that mod its impossible.

i would be fine with mod that allow to get 100% ressources used to build , this 300kW h that are saved in battery is nothing , u burn through it like in 10 minutes of breacon

I am going to add this mod to my games however I'd like to note if you do what you have in the planned features I'd rather you have it in a 2nd mod, because I've been looking for a replacement to the old mods I used to use that did this same thing and they haven't been updated in a long while and stopped working due to ModAPI changes.
