Reinforced Walls (Continued)

Related to that embrasure airtightness issue, I know there is a mod called Retractable Defenses (or something like that) that adds a console and retractable walls where you can (if the console is manned) retract or raise the special walls. When extended, the walls are airtight if they are made of an airtight material. Would be interesting to see something like that for embrasures, where you could open/close the firing port to either shoot out of it or to secure it against the vacuum. That would probably not make sense for this mod tho, but as a separate mod that this, rebuild and renewed and all that can be patched into
Phoenix-D 26 Aug @ 5:43pm
On testing, yep. The game complains it's airtight with a log error, then makes it not airtight.

renewed- not this mod- is what that happens to. It also generates Config error in NEC_ReinforcedEmbrasure: impassable, player-buildable building that can be shot/seen over.

so hopefully Ludeon isn't thinking of just patching embrasures out entirely :/
cyano  [author] 26 Aug @ 4:06am
Airtight is not separately added; that property comes from the base game defs. If it's airtight in base game it's airtight in this mod. IIRC making embrasures airtight causes a load error and there it is actually separately disabled. And it wouldn't make sense anyway.
Phoenix-D 26 Aug @ 1:14am
As far as I can tell, the embrasuress from Reworked and this mod aren't airtight, renewed is.

(and yeah it shouldn't be :D)
-=GoW=-Dennis 24 Aug @ 10:05pm
You mean the embrasures are not airtight even when on metal walls? I mean, that kinda makes sense if there isn't forcefield in them. I guess making them unusable in space and having them airtight in return for that duration would be cool.
Phoenix-D 24 Aug @ 8:49pm
Yeah, sorry, I was talking about the gun slits there not the walls.
-=GoW=-Dennis 24 Aug @ 6:35pm
Ah, so this mod DOES have airtight added to metal walls?
cyano  [author] 24 Aug @ 3:24pm
Just like in vanilla, metal walls are airtight but wood and stone are not. Though I think it's still a thing in vanilla as well where wood/stone double walls are also airtight.
-=GoW=-Dennis 24 Aug @ 1:36pm
Thank you, unfortunately I need airtightness for my project. So I guess Reworked is the besr choice for now.
Phoenix-D 24 Aug @ 3:46am
They also all have different research requirements.

This one works semi-natively with the awesome Layered Wall destruction.
Phoenix-D 24 Aug @ 3:32am
Dennis: This one seems the most similar to the original. Not airtight I think.Steel is flammable here in the other two it isn't. Most cover from embrasures. Offers doors and coolers as build options when clicked on.

Renewed removes the XML extensions settings screen. (and causes an infinite log loop if you click on it). It's airtight in a way that generates log errors. Least cover from embrasures (same as WD embrasures). Offers nothing when clicked on.

Reworked is a rewrite that changes the balance and adds a lower-tech option for the walls. Not airtight I think. Slower to build, requires slightly less...stuff. Mid cover from embrasures. Offers doors as build option when clicked on.

Contrary to Renewed's comments about wall lights, all work with vanilla wall lights.
-=GoW=-Dennis 23 Aug @ 11:58am
Anyone knows what the differences between this and the Renewed (https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3418368998) and Reworked (https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3219861022) versions are?
YettimGazi 18 Aug @ 12:10pm
i guess its my fault, i asked to chatgpt and it said to me vanilla ultratech constructoids doesn't build walls it depends to game, it recomend to build low level constructor or start to build wall as a pawn and after contructoid will help
cyano  [author] 18 Aug @ 12:02pm
Please explain how I can reproduce the problem, otherwise there's nothing I can do to investigate. Is this the vanilla constructoid or one added by another mod? If the former, it is possible some other mod you are using is causing this. If the latter, then most likely that mod may not be compatible with this one for some reason.
YettimGazi 18 Aug @ 11:42am
ultratech constructoid 1 is not available now because its busy to charge while sleeping because it doesn't build this reinforced wall, why? idk help me
HELP
ME :D
cyano  [author] 18 Aug @ 11:38am
Sorry, what is an "ultra mech contsructoid"? Just double checked and the vanilla constructoid builds them just fine.
YettimGazi 18 Aug @ 11:07am
my ultra mech contsructoid doesn'T build reinforced wall help me to fix this
cyano  [author] 10 Aug @ 4:11am
Metal walls are, stone and wooden are not. About which one to use is for you to decide; download and test each one, and then use the one you like best.
PremierVader 8 Aug @ 2:27am
Why are there so many versions of this mod? Which should I use? Are these walls airtight for use in space?
cyano  [author] 19 Jul @ 1:23pm
All metal walls are already airtight, so you can use them for your space stations. Stone and wood walls are not.
Fault code 18 Jul @ 8:12am
Would you enhance the airtightness of the reinforced wall to insulate it from air in space? Just like the cabin walls of a spaceship.

Sorry, my English is not very good, so I used a translation software. I hope it didn't cause you any trouble.
cyano  [author] 5 Jul @ 10:28pm
Obviously it shouldn't do that, and I have never seen it happen. Could be an incompatibility with some other mod. What does the error log say?
Spinel 5 Jul @ 6:24pm
When I click on the Reinforced Wall research in the research tab, a huge number of error logs appear. Why is this happening?
cyano  [author] 28 Jun @ 6:01am
Yes,. But it still works without it as well.
CurtimusPrime92 27 Jun @ 11:25pm
@cyano did the latest update re-incoperate XML Extenstions now that it's on 1.6?
cyano  [author] 17 Jun @ 3:32pm
Updated for 1.6. Currently XML Extensions does not work in 1.6 so there will be no mod settings available for it.

Sorry, I don't think I'll be adding double doors at this time.
Nicoman 15 Jun @ 2:45am
Well done maintaining this mod, cyano. Only thing I miss: Reinforced double doors / double auto doors.
VitaKaninen 22 Apr @ 1:26pm
@Sushi Aki Yes, they can.
Sushi Aki 22 Apr @ 1:09pm
can turrets shoot through slots?
CurtimusPrime92 5 Jan @ 12:21pm
i am attempting to do it myself and i'll see if i can get a playable result lol
cyano  [author] 5 Jan @ 4:39am
@NekoJess Oh, I see. Well, it seems like that mod needs to add support for other modded walls, probably nothing I can do here.

@CurtimusPrime92 Sorry, not at this time.
CurtimusPrime92 3 Jan @ 2:23am
@cyano can you update https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2882167814 Reinforced Walls+ too?
NekoJess 28 Dec, 2024 @ 3:36am
@Cyano
Pappi_Rabbi means the "Layered Destriuction" mod
https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3024527775&searchtext=layered+destruction
It's causing Reinforced Walls, when not entirely destroyed, upon repair, to become normal type walls instead of the reinforced walls they originally were when constructed.
cyano  [author] 25 Nov, 2024 @ 9:17pm
What do you mean by "layered destruction"? Does it occur when only this mod and its dependencies are loaded, and nothing else? Otherwise I would suspect some other mod is causing it.

This is a simple xml mod that adds a ThingDef for a type of wall, and there is nothing in the xml that would explain why something like that would happen. If it also happens with only this mod loaded, then it could be something in the base game code.
Pappi_Rabbi 22 Nov, 2024 @ 6:51am
for some reason layered destruction when rebuilding itll turn it into regular walls instead of reinforced
Fischl 6 Oct, 2024 @ 8:11pm
this should be updated to 1.5 right and whats the diff of power walls and this one?
cyano  [author] 2 Sep, 2024 @ 6:54am
Yes
Pappi_Rabbi 2 Sep, 2024 @ 6:30am
can turrets shoot thru this
cyano  [author] 24 Jul, 2024 @ 12:43pm
I found three variants: Concrete Walls (for 1.4), Concrete Walls 1.5 , and Concrete Walls - Forked and they all seem to be working fine with this mod. The concrete gets listed as one of the building materials.
mgiu7t 24 Jul, 2024 @ 5:15am
Mod: Concrete Walls
It only works fine with other mods, for example with VFE and CE.
cyano  [author] 23 Jul, 2024 @ 9:17pm
Which mod is that? If the concrete uses a custom stuff category then it won't be automatically picked up by this mod.
mgiu7t 20 Jul, 2024 @ 6:20am
Does not work with Concrete Walls, ceramic concrete cannot be used.
cyano  [author] 14 Jul, 2024 @ 5:37am
@Floxii I don't think there is a one for 1.5.
@slickap4che The issue must be on your system, options are working fine for me and others.
John Misdemeanor 13 Jul, 2024 @ 5:29pm
can't access mod option to change hyperweave to different material.
Floxii 11 Jul, 2024 @ 11:46am
where is the Power walls edition?
EverNaughty 25 May, 2024 @ 3:29am
@cyano
Resolved by deleted all files related to the mode XML Extensions and reinstall it.
cyano  [author] 25 May, 2024 @ 12:56am
Steel is now added as an option. I also set it as the default extra construction material, just like it was in the original mod, so you may have to adjust the mod settings after update.

@EverNaughty Unfortunately there is nothing I can do about it if I can't replicate the issue. Try to run this mod with only the dependencies loaded, and troubleshoot further from there if it the problem persists.
EverNaughty 15 May, 2024 @ 11:24am
Same problem as @Horhyzon but can't resolve the issue :S
