As always, keep up the good work.
If possible, please, please reintroduce the old system sometime.
"According to several sources, a freak car crash killed ___ soon after this book's publication. The Unzek print-house shut down shortly after publication due to Candor raids. The pages are in a terrible condition [despite literally just being written]."
I'm imagining them being unlocked based on backstory (aka the electrical engineer writing down notes on how to do electricity).
Finally just looked through dev commands to see if I could find it and it was under "spawn thing" -> "VBE-writing table" or something like that. Saw a lot of other people having this same problem so figure id share my work around lol amazing mod once you get a table.
Since Books are now a thing in the base game, it wasn't easy to decide what to do with this mod. Fortunately, books can't be written by the player in the base game, so it was a simple decision: This mod will now allow you to construct writing bench and typewriter bench, and will then allow your colonists to write different types of books, same way it worked before.
You can also write newspapers for a quick and simple recreation bonus for your colonists.
I hope you will appreciate this mod as much as I enjoyed making it!

A: Reading said books could give an opinion buff toward the author.
(just an idea)
You could RP that the pawn is plagiarizing/translating/transcribing/recovering an older book, as opposed to being a completely original author.
It's ok if they only give a boost in happiness, but it would be so cool if that can be added into the mod :)
A: Fiction books and other books will come in the future. As much as I appreciate suggestions, please don’t suggest a book type unless you can also suggest a way to make it unique other than “It gives more joy”.
Riminson Crusoe - (passive) when taken on a caravan, they forage better, regardless of plant skill.
The Book Thief - (passive) as long as it's in the colony, colonists have a 20% chance to steal a random book from traders' inventory.
Frankenstein - (read) small chance for a new inspiration type called "It's alive!" which triples interaction speed with any biotech machinery.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies - (read) large chance to summon shamblers, small chance of creativity inspiration.
Wattpad fanfiction - (read) increased romance and lovin' chance, 0.01% chance for a reader to turn into a vampire.
These are just for fun, not serious suggestions. Unless...
Haul them out will become outdated immediately.
I suspect the bookcase breaks the newspaper despawn code.
(they are "outdated" but can't despawn)
