This was the closet thing to a CSA flag that existed on the Workshop, and you cowardly removed it. From Civil War battlefields to historically accurate recreations, there were plenty of legitimate reasons to display that banner. This was my favorite Mod because it had the courage to represent both the good and bad history of America.

Fun fact. At the peak of slavery in 1860, only 5% of American households owned slaves. To be fairer, in the South, only 20% of households owned slaves. The Civil War was not only about slavery. In fact, originally slavery had almost nothing to do with it. Lincoln had no intention of freeing slaves at the beginning of the war. I understand why some may find the flag offensive. But let's not pretend anyone who wants to use the flag to decorate their cities on a city building game is racist.

As I've seen, some people just want to recreate Civil War scenes. The flag helps make it more realistic. Or maybe some people just want to create modern southern cities that do in fact actually fly the confederate flag. No matter the reason, even if it is because of genuine racism, people should be allowed to speak, and by extension, show their views peacefully.

The creator has control over whether or not to bring the flag back, and I support them being allowed to change their mod however they see fit. But what I do not support is being labeled racist because I want to create a county in Tennessee and have confederate flags flying in said county.

I am sorry if the flag offends you. But let me remind you that you do not have to download a mod that includes something you find offensive. Or you can even download said mod and not use the item you find offensive. Don't take away from others because of your own selfishness.

You relented to a bunch of virtue signalling creampuffs who seem to think the only country that had an issue with slavery was the U.S. The FACTS are that it was the European powers who both shipped and employed the VAST majority (90%) of the slaves to the Americas. Going to removed their flags to?

The flag literally stands for the succession of the south from the US and people who wished to keep their slaves so they can remain lazy and rich and treat other humans without dignity. Not really irrational, what's irrational is someone who can't see past the end of their nose to understand just how horrible slavery was and why Black Americans would be offended by a flag that symbolized keeping their ethnic race in chains.

I don't see them doing it over the others in the workshop for country's that their flag represents bloody revolutions by literal warlords guilty of crimes against their own people. the only reason a confederate flag should be used in CS would be for a civil war reenactment build, otherwise its nonsense. even the WWII build that was just posted to YouTube didnt use actual Nazi symbols, so ppl can cry all they want.

stop crying about the confederate flag. if history upsets you, suck it the hell up. you can't rewrite history and thats how history will be. you cant change whatever the hell drugs the confederates were on thinking slaves were okay, or what the battle flag looked like. i literally cant be against it because i know i cant change it.

I did just that.

I get how some people like to role play in the past and use an asset like the Confederate Flag, but I do find it telling and not ironic in the least how some want to attack the artist for removing the asset... and you aren't even paying for it. For those who want to lionize the confederacy, do something your heroes didn't, your own work and make you own asset.

Surely it isn't the job of asset creators to police how any assets are used in their game by players? None of us know how assets are used and it really is none of our business. I happen to play the game set in the 1920s and 1930s and in that era a civil war monument I downloaded used to fly both the Union and Confederate flags, remembering the dead who fought in both armies. That monument cannot be used now accurately. Would the flag be flown now? Of course not. But it reflects how the monument used flags in the 1920s, when I play the game.

@cougarco93 That's maybe because of your hardware compatibility issues, you can verify by downloading any "can I run it" thing. Or maybe a mod is conflicting with another, try loading without mods....

A pity the confederate flag was removed. It is offensive in its current context, understandably, but directly relevant for those of us who create old cities set in the past. For example, one city I have includes a US civil war memorial that is placed and decorated exactly as was the case in the 1900-1930 era - where it had six flags around it, four of the US flag, and two of the confederate flag, with the confederate flag placed in the middle of two US flags on each side. The trouble with censoring past symbols now understandably offensive is where do we stop? What about 1940s cigarette ads? Posters for films with uncomfortable representations of race, etc? It is hard to recreate the past without having to include bits we wouldn't use today but have to included to be accurate.

Have added some more, including the League of Nations flag, the flags of the Kingdoms of Portugal and Greece, the Spanish Republican flag, the Free French flag and have others to complete.

Excellent work. A couple of suggestions for inclusion: Flag of the Kingdom of Italy. Flag of the Spanish Republic. Flag of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Flag of the Vatican State. English Flag. Older versions of the US flag (when it had fewer states). I play the game set in the 1920s (1920s vehicles, buildings, etc) so some older flags would be handy. Your flag are superb.

Great looking flags. Both the small and large size are both perfectly sized (not too tiny and not too big), and the animation looks great. If you're put off by the inclusion of the Confederate flag, it's understandable, but the American and NASA flags are worth it, whether you're trying to create Small Town Americana or just want them in front of government buildings.
