I think you're right about certain mods cancelling out this one, but with so many mods in my collection, I can't seem to remember the specific name of the one I'm after...

Sectopods don't come in tiers traditionally, I once thought about somehow incorporating this version of the Sectopod as a weaker unit (because prototype) for early game but I didn't really know how to balance it out, that and my burnout on Xcom modding hasn't made it possible to work on such.

If any other modder wanted to do something like that though that would be fine, not that this is my skin or anything anyways so anyone could do something with it.

Hey, I really like this skin and that you make it more popular!

Nevertheless I do have questions:
Do sectopods come in three tiers like most of the other enemies?
If so might it be possible you released a mod that uses this skin for sectopods on tier three?
If not would you be able to tie this skin to force level? (If I am not mistaken sectopods start spawning at force level 16. Maybe you could make it so that at force level 18+ they use this skin instead...?)

I think it doesn't show up on Legend difficulty but I might be wrong.

I think it does get phased out for the regular Sectopod if you go on the mission after the force level where Sectopods start getting fielded making the Prototype a guaranteed Sectopod encounter.

Wait, so this unit is actually used in the ADVENT Forge mission ? Oh wow, I always tought it was some random placeholder. It makes sense now why it's stats are weaker than a normal sectopod.

I would love to make it more common somehow but I'm not sure how to do it besides doing something similar to my Archon Diversity mod but that would make the skin more "common" then I would prefer personally.

Is there a way to make it show up regardless of difficulty? As I never see it on my legendary play-throughs.

It shouldn't be too hard. Lago already did most of the heavy lifting with their [WotC] Enemy Reskinner mod. It should be a matter of adding a model with the new diffuse maps of the helmet and body for the Centurion as an option for the Reskinner to choose from. All the other maps are the exact same. I just don't know how to do it myself.

Just discovered that those were the easy difficulty stats and that it is in fact almost as tough as a normal sectopod, but does less damage.

To make this show up more often, maybe it could be put in the leader pool once sectopods start showing up, but not in the boss pool. Looking at its stats I don't think its quite as dangerous as an andromedon but more dangerous than some other leaders.

Not from me, Sectopod's wouldn't fit in the armory screen.

I've heard rumors elsewhere of someone interested in making mini Sectopods for Xcom but take it with a grain of salt.

After encountering it, is their a chance of X-Com making their own sectopod based on this one as the "skin" and upgraded like the sparks?

I have been wondering about that but there isn't really a place to fit the unit in.

It's too tough for it to show up too much earlier yet it doesn't make sense to roll it with the regular Sectopods since it's weaker.

I have been considering making a mod similar to my Archon Visual Diversity mod for the two skins however.

It was meant to have this skin yes.

Stats are different as well though, it is slightly weaker.

Wait does this add a skin to the 'prototype sectopod' you can find in the gamefiles which apparently had the exact same stats and appearance as regular sectopods ?

Update: I might actually be wrong about the Golden Paths thing, I think it's simply that the Prototype Sectopod doesn't show up on higher difficulties.
