I have played multiple games with this mod/playstyle and I am loving it and wanted to say thanks for putting it together. For anyone starting or trying it I would recommend playing a game with maxed city states and other civs on what ever map you are using this with.
Would it be possible to turn on city management of tiles 4+ spaces away from your cities?

Nothing, they are one of the few ways to expand your empire (beyond conquering other cities, which is obviously allowed).

awesome ive been looking for a one city challenge mod and there is none that i could find, then i randomly saw this mod while scrolling and civ 6 is my fav game again. thank you so much for making this

That mod is actually quite different from my mod.
Each offers a different play style.
If anything, that mod is similar to my "No More AI City Spam" mod, which can be found here:

@Eldermis In the Civilization VI modding community there are 2 types of mods, which are incompatible with each other. If you are using any additional mods - disable them and check if that fixes any compatibility issues.
If not, try to re-downloading this mod, it may have been corrupted when you downloaded it.

I really like the concept of the mod but when I want to launch a game whit it it says that some mods are incompatible... (and my game says that your mod is incompatible too) is that normal or my game is just broken?

Great mod. I used it in my Religious victory with Canada. It makes for a nice enjoyable game because the AI isn't flooding the map with cities. It pairs well with Polite City-States.

crashes my game. tried disabling all mods with this only it still crashed. I don't have RF and GS

@SkyRio Unfortunately I have no plans on buying/working on gathering storm in the near future.
When I do I promise I will try to make this mod compatible.
In the mean time, you can verify if this mod is working or not by removing and re-adding it. And by seeing if it appears in the list of active mods during a game.

Hello! You could not fix your mod for the game of civilization 6. Recently the update "Gathering Storm" and your modification (https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1193740301) has been released to stop working with the game. Yes, there can be issues with other mods (depending on mod implementation).
You can disable all other mods (except this one) and run the game to see that it works.
(Keep in mind it won't work well on Diery difficulty)

What difficulty are you on? If you're on Deity level, then the Civs will get a bonus Settler (even with this mod installed). This is mentioned in the mod description.

The name of the mod is a tiny bit distracting. You can only play as a major civilization like before, you just can't build settlers and are more or less confined to playing as a citystate. The capital is all you'll get.

Sorry I was being tarded, I forgot I had it set on Diety and they start out with two settlers in that mode. Mod appears to be working fine, disreguard.

The Mod works perfectly, sadly the AI is really bad at adapting to the gameplay.

Put about 20 hrs on this mod, it works very well now and as intended! As long as you're not playing on deity the AI never makes settlers. Paired this mod with the strategic forts mod so i could still grab land and it made for a great one city challenge for AI and human players!

@Mdk25 - Thanks, I can live with that. I normally play the single city challenge on deity. Your approach adds an interesating new element to that game by also limiting AI sprawl.

One other item you might look at is changing the city plot allowed values from 3 to 8. By default its hard coded to 3 but the xml value can be set up to 8. It doesn't change the 3 plot buy range you can work citizens in but makes the luxury/strategic tiles available (depending on city expansion) out to a maximum of 8 plots for their amenity/strategic/trade values.

One of the things I doscoverd working on this mod, is that there are only 2 ways to tweak the game:
1. Tweak the game for all players (human & AI)
2. Tweak the game for human player only

The option to tweak the game for AI players only, is missing from the game :(

@dejpolsys - You're right.
There apparently is a bonus built it into the game, that on higher difficulties adds additional settlers to AI players.
Unfortunately, it cannot be removed.
I reduced it to it's bare minimum - Deity difficulty (only) adds 1 additional settler to each AI player.

Using your 11 Nov 7:45 update in Ancient era, Deity level, AI imediately popped up with 3 Settlers. Disabled all other mods, same result.

Hey everyone,
Sorry the mod wasn't working before.
I needed to wait for the weekend (when I have some free time) to fix it.

The good news is that it's fixed now, and should work for everyone.
Even better news is that I took the time to handle the eras issue - so now regardless of the era the game starts, everyone only gets 1 settler.

As always, feel free to post any complaints or suggestions here, I promise to address them.

The no more city spam mod doesnt work like it does alone by itself. Settlers are very easy to make and use. AI builds plenty of citys.
