Proxima Beyond - Survival Scenario

Description

Welcome to the "Proxima Beyond" scenario!

Originally intended to be a 'straightforward' mission to Proxima Centauri b, The Foundation finds itself adrift for over three centuries due to a cryosleep malfunction, landing in an unknown and uncharted star system. Now, it stands as a testament to resilience, survival, and the indomitable spirit of exploration.

After waking up from an extended cryosleep to find yourself drifting far beyond your intended destination. Your spaceship, barely functional and technology obsolete, sets the stage for this survival adventure.

The Scenario itself is pretty open and just sets the scene. It simply drops you in a situation where you are free to decide how to handle the situation. There are no scripted encounters or milestones that trigger events - It's all up to you to progress and set your own goals.

The Scenario starts with a pretty small selection of mods (Including MES) which are a great challenge to start with, but you can adjust or increase the challenge by adding or changing installed mods.

Initially, the only MES packs installed are:

- Scrapyard - MES Wreckage and Ruins Mod
- Assertive Combat Systems
- Independent Contractors

You can add more MES add-ons if you wish to add more challenges to the scenario.

Dive into the role-playing element of 'Proxima Beyond' as you embody a pilot navigating an unfamiliar star system. In this self-guided journey, there are no specific triggers or notifications to signal the completion of objectives. Your mission to find a way back to Earth begins with understanding your surroundings. By charting each planet and establishing a network of outposts, you gather essential data and lay the foundations for a Base of Operations. This base serves as the heart of your efforts to ascertain your position relative to Earth. With this role-playing approach, you define success on your own terms, crafting your story as you decide when you've achieved your goals. Embrace your role and navigate through the system, charting a course home.

Start from Cryosleep: Begin your adventure from a cryopod aboard a derelict spacecraft, lost in the depths of space.

Build from Scratch: With limited resources and no initial blueprints; scavenge, salvage, and rebuild your technological capabilities.

Survey and Settle: Explore each planet and moon in the system, conducting surveys. Establish outposts on each to secure resources and mark your progress across the system.

Base of Operation: After surveying each planet and moon, select the most suitable planet for constructing a large base. This base will serve as your command center to chart your position and devise a route back to Earth.

Mod Adjustments: This scenario begins purely as a salvage scenario, restricting blueprint learning from the start. Players wishing to adjust this aspect can modify the installed mods to tailor the gameplay experience to their preferences.

For example: you can install the "Grind to Learn" Mod to allow for learning blueprints. However, this mod will be conflicting with Splitsie's "Building Restrictions" Mod. So be sure to remove that mod and enable Progression in the Advanced options if you wish to use "Grind to Learn".

This is my first try at a Scenario - so most likely some things will be wrong or not working properly - If you let me know, I can look into solutions or fixing it, and learn along the way.

Any news on if this has been fixed to a playable state? It looked fun in the videos I watched but... the comments have lead me to not want to try it if its as bad as people say it is.

Just a note, I had changed this to multiplayer so that might have had an impact on how it starts and all. :P

Ah, it happens if I don't select a spawn point fast enough.

Seems like this map keeps crashing every time I attempt to load it.

var exception = System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

This needs a lot of work. If you want to play it use your own mods. This is about as close to unplayable as it gets at the moment.

If there's no scripting then what makes this worth downloading ?
May aswell play 'any old start'
This sandbox needs real missions / campaigns, effort in this direction would be very welcome / rewarding.

Hi Kagu, I am not sure what would cause that issue.
I have had no problems so far with "slippery" planets, and I am currently on an Ice Moon. 😂

So the only thing I could think of is either an extra mod you installed or a plugin.
