Working Seatbelt

Description
Description
Stay safe in the apocalypse, either by fastening your seatbelt, or relying on your airbag, and reduce the damage taken from car crashes, as you navigate the infected streets of Kentucky!

Important Note
The vehicle damage system in Project Zomboid operates randomly, meaning that even with identical conditions (such as player health, speed, and type of car), two crashes can result in different levels of damage. In one instance, you might end up with 75% health and no serious injuries, while in another, you could have only 20% health and several deep wounds. It's important to know that this mod can't help with crashes that are bad enough to lead to death, due to limitations in the game's scripts. At the current moment, the mod will only reduce damage and fractures resulted in a car crash. For other wounds (Cuts/scratches/etc), they'll be added in later updates

Compatibility
  • Other Mods
  • Game Version - Tested and works on 41.78.16+. Not tested on earlier versions
  • Multiplayer - Functional in multiplayer
  • Pre-existing saves - Can be added to your pre-existing save, though sandbox settings will be set at default values, which may not be ideal for everyone

To-do
The following feature(s) are planned to be added in the future for this mod
  • Reduce other wounds (Bleeding/Scratches/etc) from car crashes

Known Bugs/Issues
  • None at the moment

@Goose, you're so very confident about being completely wrong.

I said there wasn't seatbelt LAWS, not that seatbelts didn't exist.

Seatbelt chimes were not so widespread by 1993, nor did every car chime indefinitely. MOST CARS made at the time did not have chimes.

Now that we've cleared up that I never said seatbelt laws didn't exist, what I actually said is that many places (SUCH AS KENTUCKY) did not have seatbelt laws until after 1993.

Kentucky SPECIFICALLY did not enact seatbelt enforcement until July 15, 1994.

@Arendameth, thank you for the quick reply. I didn't see it in sandbox at first, my mod may have just been out of date.

@Jerry
You can turn it off completely from sandbox settings, or toggle it from each car by right clicking the seatbelt icon on dashboard

the chime is so annoying and unrealistic, most cars did not do that in '93, hell there wasn't even seatbelt laws in a lot of places for a while after that.

@ingector8357
just change the audio in the mod yourself.
that's what i did.
take the sound effect from the mod that you like, copy it, rename it to the exact same as the current chime and replace it.
it's as simple as that.

@Arendameth Can you pls make american-style alarm? Im asking because alarm in Vehicle light chime mod is very simular to your and when i listen to two same sounds for two different functions it breaks the atmosphere of realism.

Can you make braven's bicycle mod not have seatbelts?
Arendameth  [author] 22 Jun @ 1:10pm
Glad you guys like the new update!

@Hermes
By the way you don't have to constantly toggle the sandbox option. The newest update lets you right click on the indicator icon on the dashboard to completely toggle the chime of that specific vehicle until you turn it back on :)

Thank you for adding a sandbox option to turn off the seat belt chime. I didn't realize this updated, and was like "Wow, that's really neat there's a warning now.". I started exploring a road I hadn't cleared yet, and five minutes in of getting in/out to kill zombies I wanted to strap the seat belt in behind my character just to avoid that noise.. Great when you have long stretches of cleared road, and are going someplace far away. Not great when having to get in, and out every 40 feet.. Much appreciated, and awesome work.

Hey dude, loving the new updates! Really great work I'm loving the warning sound for not wearing a belt and how it works as of right now. Thank you thank you!
Goose 21 Jun @ 12:55pm
that's okay!
