Welcome to More Picks & Points "FLEX EDITION"
This is the Flex Edition of "More Picks & Points: Traits|Civics|Ethics" older versions or just MPP. This edition offers you the freedom to customize the mod settings without manually editing any files, thanks to our new (optional) Flex(ible) Script tool. Just download it and run it.

• MOD DESCRIPTION •
This mod provides players (and NPCs) with expanded freedom and realism when creating a new empire. It offers increased trait points, ethics, and civic picks. Whether you're looking to craft a unique civilization or just experimenting with different combinations, this mod is designed to enhance your Stellaris empire-building experience and user interactions by improving the diversity of alien species and ecosystems, enhancing biological realism.

- ETHOS_MAX_POINTS: 3
- GOVERNMENT_CIVIC_POINTS_BASE: 2
- Machine Trait Points: 1
- Biological Trait Points: 2
- Max Machine Traits: 5
- Max Biological Traits: 5

Standard (Mod Default Preset) Values:

Custom Values:
With the flexScript[github.com], you can freely customize the above values to your preference.


• WHAT'S NEW IN THE FLEX EDITION? •
The FLEX EDITION introduces a revolutionary way to tweak the mod's settings. With the flexScript[github.com], you can:
  • Set the mod to vanilla default values.
  • Use the standard or beast presets (similar to the previous STANDARD and BEAST editions).
  • Or fully customize the points and picks to your liking.
  • Prepare MPP for server gameplay.
flexScript[github.com] is open source and was developed in python. You can easily check its code at our GitHub's repository.


• HOW TO USE THE FLEXSCRIPT •
  1. Download the latest release at the Releases Page[github.com].
  2. Follow the Readme.md file at flexScript[github.com].
  3. Run the script, and follow the on-screen prompts to customize your mod settings.


• HOW TO UPDATE THE MOD •
Updating the mod is simple and straightforward. Just follow these steps:
  1. Run flexScript and wait for all folder and file checks: Ensure that all necessary files and folders are properly checked by the Flex Script tool.
  2. Choose number 6. UPDATE: Select the update option from the menu. If you are currently in SERVER MODE, make sure to deactivate server mode before proceeding.
  3. Wait for it to update: Allow the Flex Script tool to complete the update process. This may take a few moments, so please be patient.

• EASIER MULTIPLAYER SETUP •
Hosting a multiplayer game with friends? Flex Script now simplifies the process! FS's new server mode option ensures that all players have identical mod settings, drastically reducing the risk of desyncs or compatibility issues. Just run Flex Script in server mode, and it will take care of the rest - making your multiplayer experience seamless and enjoyable. Remember to test your online games after customization, and do let us know if you encounter any issues. Read more about this process at Readme[github.com].

• WARNING •
Please note that this mod also alters the picks and point limits for NPC Empires. This is not intended to function as a Cheat Mod. Rather, these changes enhance the diversity of traits across different species and empires, both player-created and AI-controlled. The aim is to create a more enriching, realistic, and intense gameplay experience. Obviously this has an impact on balance. This can either make your game harder or easier depending on the species you are creating.


• COMPATIBILITY •
This mod is compatible with Stellaris 3.11+. Please note that the STANDARD, BEAST, and LITE versions are no longer maintained. Instead, all the features have been integrated into this FLEX EDITION for a more streamlined and user-friendly experience, and also helping us to maintain this mod in a way easier and autonomous way.


• KNOWN ISSUES •
  • Occasionally, running the Flex Script might trigger Windows Defender due to its interaction with mod files and the installed files of Stellaris. Rest assured, this script is safe and you can verify its harmless nature by checking the code on our GitHub repository.
  • Some mod incompatibilities may arise when using other mods that also modify trait points, ethics, or civics. More details are provided in the Compatibility section above.
  • There's a known issue with the "Tactical Algorithms" civic for machine empires that may prevent trading leaders. We are investigating this and working on a fix. In the meantime, if you encounter this issue, please avoid using this civic if you need to trade leaders.

If you encounter any bugs or unexpected behavior, please report them in this dedicated discussion thread. For mod issues, this link is preferred. For FlexScript usage issues, you can use either the provided link or our GitHub repository. its fine, look forward to it getting updated, im really hoping this is the mod thats making the game crash, still testing it out though trying different mods

FYI: If you have flexscript downloaded you can do the following to get this mod working again:
1. Run the RESET option
2. Run the UPDATE option
3. Run the CUSTOMIZE option to reset your choices

Not sure why but the update didn't take until I did the reset option first.

Alright...I think I have some insight as to the mod crashing. 00_defines.txt has been modified in 3.13. Unfortunately, NGameplay has a metric fuckton worth of constants set in it, so I'm not sure if there is any way to just alter the constants you want to alter. You may just need to create your own mod and find the following constants:

ETHOS_MAX_POINTS = 3
GOVERNMENT_CIVICS_POINTS_BASE = 5

In my file, they are Lines 761 and 763.

I notice that MAX_NUM_GROWTH_OR_DECLINE_PER_MONTH is 100 in the 3.13 version of the file, but was set to 10 in this mod.

There are numerous lines present in the 3.13 version of the file that are absent from the mod version. I bet these lines are expected by the 3.13 executable and their absence causes the crashes we are seeing.

I think the species_archeotype.txt file from this mod works just fine.

Yeah, also crashing the game for me too. Alas the only mod in my collection that hasnt survived
Mistake, 17/09/2024.
I have no idea how I did this mistake.
DO NOT INSTALL UNLESS THERE IS AN UPDATE AFTER 19/09/2024!
Makes your game crash on new game, error related to radioactive trait, possible custom modpack incompatibility, but probably unlikely and it's up to you to test it on vanilla.

-Confirmed by Killecs, installed on 19/09/2024.
