ShireChild - The Southern Belle

Description
It's nearing winter and it's time to celebrate the harvest... Rumors of the return of evil brewing in these peaceful lands call for you farmhands to rise to prominence or perhaps descend to darkness. After months of work, the sequel to the critically-acclaimed ShireChild campaign has arrived!

This campaign spans levels 1-16 and has a huge focus on player agency and replayability. There are 3 distinct endings and each of the four acts has between 5-25 ways to play through. We feel this campaign really showcases everything Solasta has to offer and want to thank the Tactical Adventures Team for all the additions to the Dungeon Maker that made this possible (World Map! ^^).

We focused heavily on bringing all the aspects of tabletop D&D to life in this campaign and our aim is to capture that impactful role-playing feel. There is full crafting and all skill checks, languages and even some backgrounds affect gameplay in addition to full world map integration.

We want to thank the community for the immense support our team received in the original Shirechild campaign and we hope that you will enjoy this campaign as much if not more.

Let us know if you find any glitches as well. Enjoy!

Wow @RandallJWatson, my apologies, it was indeed my fault, not a Solasta glitch. I found the variable chain that was causing that error, I just fixed and re-uploaded. Thanks for catching! Unfortunately, I don't think it will fix in the save you are playing but if you have a save at the start of Bransleybane before talking to mayor, you can avoid the issue by not clicking on asking about the charitable donation with mayor, or alternatively you can go through with the charitable donation with Taxman Kyle. Both should still work. It was an issue with a variable on speaking first then backing out. Also not sure if you tried it on your first run-through, but I would highly recommend trying Act 3 Red Wizard path. Some really fun fights and it's quick so you don't have to replay Shadow ninjas quest since you just did it. And yes, ShireChild 3 is coming along very well, very excited to release hopefully in the next month or two. Thanks again as well! Happy you are enjoying!

Side note, while the current issue I am having is a little frustrating, I have absolutely loved both shire. The combat has been challenging, the humor/story good for a chuckle, and just overall very entertaining. I am looking forward to #3. The "Boys" need more hobos to murder.

I did start the mayor quest but backed out without making the donation to Kyle, mayor now says heard you backed out let's keep the conversation private. So changed my mind there. It was after this that I explored the sewers found the vampire and I believe some earth ninjas. Killed them all, looted only the good stuff, no key though. From there moved on to shadow ninja quest line, Did everything up to Lady Willow quest but the sewers are now completely empty. Even went back and checked all the loot bags to see if I missed and key, nope. The lower sewer grate behind the locked door is not activated and I can not unlock the door though I can get to the crate with spider climbing wizard.

Hi @RandallJWatson, hey no judgement on murder-hoboing from me ^^ I just checked the variables in the sewer, and it looks good to me so I'm thinking it's possible Solasta glitched? I've seen random variables or exits get messed up by game sometimes when underlying code doesn't have any issue. Could you describe the steps you took in more detail prior to wiping them? Did you make a charitable donation to mayor? Lady Willow does have a vampire form but that shouldn't trigger until you complete other steps of ninja trials or "order 66" with Mayor. If you made a charitable donation, your next step would be to go back and talk to mayor after executing ninja clans. She doesn't drop a key in that scenario.

Sooooo, I think I may have broken another one and now can't progress the main quest. I just completed the shadow ninja quest up to the point where I have to meet Lady Willow in the sewers. Here's the issue, explored the sewers before starting the shadow ninja quest. Was attacked by some earth ninja's and what I thought at the time was a brood vampire character. Thinking that was Lady Willow. Obviously killed them all including the floating Lady, now no way to progress. Saw in a previous post that she is supposed to give a key, she didn't drop one when I killed the group, so it is looking like the main quest is completely jacked for me. Any thoughts? I swear I am not just a random murder hobo LOL

Hi @ RandallJWatson Ahhh interesting, I've never done it in that order, but yes it looks like that would alter the variables causing bandits to storm the keep. Although without their leader, I think it makes sense that they would be less inclined to break into the Keep and steal the diamonds/rescue him. The Storm Keep is the final quest of the Blue Delvers regardless so you didn't miss too much content. Just a couple thousand gold for completing the defense of the keep. Happy to hear you enjoyed the campaign and props on finding the Atlas Dagger, didn't know how many people would! ^^

So, doing a second play through of this campaign, and again every bit as good as the base game. Very cheesy and humorous dialogue and I am eagerly awaiting part 3. This said, I think I broke a quest. So I orginally sided with the clapback kid. I betrayed him with the dagger mission and whacked his ass keeping the dagger I raided from the blue delvers. I did all this prior to turning in the sun stone from wild childs quest. Turned in the sun stone, got the quest to protect the storm keep. Went to the keep but the bandits never showed up. The quest shows active, I ran all over the keep, no bandits. Hell I even looted some of the diamonds and still no bandits. I think that I might have scared them when I whacked the kid. They don't want any of the pain that I am bringing. Anyway can't seem to progress the blue delvers quest not, any thoughts?

@RandallJWatson Glad to hear you're really enjoying this one as well, appreciate the high praise!

Regarding Honeycut Yes, there are about 4-5 ways Honeycut can be saved though I don't want to spoil the exact details for you as it is intended to be somewhat of a mystery to save within the 5 days before the demons are unleashed.

For the Storm Keep Thieves, yes they can be stopped though the timing is pretty tight. If any group of thieves survives around a gem for over a minute they steal the gems and escape. So one tactic I might recommend is to split the party into mini squads to fight off the thieves.

Also yes both ShireChilds are pretty non-linear by design, which is intended to give it more of a tabletop RPG feel. You actually can only experience a portion of the possible campaign content in any single play through. Both campaigns can diverge pretty heavily depending on your choices. SC1 has 6 possible endings and SC2 has 3-4.

Had to make a second post. There is only one critique I would have and this is for both campaigns. Quest markers would have been helpful. I noticed in Shire Child and Southern Belle seems to be the same that some quests appear to be conditional. I left Shire Child wondering if I had seen everything and have the same feeling with Southern Belle. I don't mind talking to everyone one or two times, but knowing I'd unlocked a quest would have been nice. I am one that doesn't want to miss something. These are so well done, it bothers me to wonder if i saw all the content. Otherwise both have been fantastic and IMHO every bit as good as the base game. I am definately looking forward to Shire Child 3!

So I am loving Southern Belle. Actually think I am going to play it again after I complete. I do have a couple of questions though, not wanting answers as to the how, more about the if.

1. Can Honeycut be saved? Failed that mission but not sure if I did or didn't do something that caused me to fail?

2. Is it possible to prevent the thieves from taking the storm gem at storm keep. Ended up failing that one as well but admit it could be that I didn't run it right. The timing there seems to be critical and I thought I was on the right track but ended up failing the quest on the second wave.

Otherwise I am really enjoying this campaign and will definately play it again trying to figure some of this out.
