Description
A quick revamp on my previous to make it more faithful to the original game by only displaying essential UI for a L4D2 HUD and repositioned them to make it even more similar to the game, as well as modifying teammate panel too.

Changes compared to the original version (or you can just see the screenshots) :
  • Survivor icon are removed (good luck to realism players.)
  • After the removal, repositioned the teammate panel and local player panel slightly to the corners.
  • Incapacitation circular health bar's red vibrancy is increased, the white bump is removed.
  • Most UIs are repositioned, changed or added:
    1. Death overlay is now a skull icon (from tomaz's HUD) and placed in the middle of the circular health bar on both local player and teammate upon death.
    2. Ducking icon is placed on the bottom right corner of the circular health bar and getting its size increased by a lot.
    3. Health counter on local player and teammate is placed on the top of the circular health bar.
    4. An incapacitation icon is added to the local player, and is placed on the ducking icon position.
    5. Selected item color is changed to be consistent with game's icon color when reloading.
    6. Resized and moved the horizontal health bar. Yes yes, I know I said that I would remove it, but because of the disadvantages of RHB, I decided to add it back, but I want to have it placed on a good spot where it doesn't destroy most of the looks on the HUD.
    7. Adjusted player name box to make sure it doesn't overlap with the other name when using a very long name.
    8. And more....
  • Since it doesn't use any survivor portraits, there should be no conflict with survivor skins.
  • And more as you can see in the screenshots.

Check here for available supported custom crosshairs.
Check here for available supported radial health bars.

I really want to put the incapacitated word below the health bar, but the secondary pistol-type weapon icon is in the way, and I can't move it because of the limitation. I could have put it below the icon, but I think the result should be good enough.

Limitations:
  • Originally posted by tomaz:
    • The health bar is monocolor, regardless of how much health you have.
    • Temporary health shows up as normal health (No ticks).
    • When you die, a small chunk of health will remain on the radial health bar, this is because the game, internally, sets the player's health to 1 when you die (for whatever reason).
    • When you're incapped, the radial health bar will only decrement once health reaches below 100.
  • If you get punched off the map by a Tank and fall to your death, it may show the last amount of health that you had.
  • When playing online and you're waiting to be rescued, the circular health bar will show half of your health.
  • The circular health bar will always deplete clockwise.
  • Only a full sector circular health bar for 100 health is possible, this means you can't have a half circle for a 100 health circular health bar or other partial sector.
  • The size and position of all primary weapons are combined, the M60 icon will pass through the circular health bar, not much I can do about it without modifying the iconsheet, which is a horrible idea since other weapon-type add-ons might replace the icons too.
  • The item icons will not glow when you switch to them.
  • The primary weapon icon cannot be moved separately without moving the secondary pistol-type weapon icon, forcing the pistol-type weapon icon and ammo count to be at the bottom of the circular health bar.
  • And more...

Notes:
  • This HUD is not guaranteed to work properly with a Steam Deck. L4D2 has specific parameters that are applied to certain UI elements when it detects that it's being played on a Steam Deck, since I do not own a Steam Deck, I am unable to check whether it looks okay or not.
  • This HUD was made in a 1920x1080 resolution, so certain elements may not look accurate at lower resolutions.

Alternate Versions
After downloading the file, move the file to this folder path assuming that you use the game default download path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\addons, addons folder is the place if you have a different download path.

Credits
  • Urik - Custom Crosshair Support.
  • tomaz - CRHB, original resource files, tester, HUD Tweaks and Fixes.
  • Me - Textures ripping and resource files editing.

And of course the original 2023 Resident Evil 4 for the inspiration and texture assets.

Enjoy, and feel free to report any bugs and issues, other than that, I won't be updating this anymore, anyone is welcome to make edits for it.

I have tried to find the problem that causes your issue, as I noticed it from the other reporter too. Unfortunately, I can't seem to fix the issue. Aside from suggesting to verify the integrity of your files, try disabling any UI related add-ons that you have.
