Description
WARNING! Because Reimu DLC doesn't officially support the Steam Workshop, this will require a bit of manual installation!

After you've subscribed to the addon, you will need to navigate to

steamapps\workshop\content\1960590\2917082153

move EternalShrineMaidenV1.1.pk3 to

steamapps\common\I Am Sakuya Touhou FPS Game\Reimu DLC

and then drag it into gzdoom.exe to play it!

You will probably run into game-breaking issues if you try to play base I Am Sakuya while subscribed to this, so be sure to unsubscribe from this addon whenever you wanna go back! (If you've moved the .pk3 file already, you'll still keep it afterwards!)

Eternal Shrine Maiden is a mod developed with the sole intention of adding more flexibility and satisfying gameplay to Reimu DLC, which, in comparison to its predecessor, was severely lacking. Based on Vampire Hunter, it features...

Rebalanced Weapons: The Auto Shotgun is a shotgun once more, firing six bullets that spread out in a sort-of-X-like shape, and the Grenade Launcher fires... well, grenades; they bounce around and explode on contact with enemies, oftentimes sending them flying. Unfortunately, the Gohei doesn't heal you anymore, but it still deals a ton of damage and any enemy still standing after a good bonk will be stunned for a few moments. All of that, and I haven't even mentioned the faster, smoother weapon swapping yet; allowing you to quickly swap from gohei to grenades to shotgun to grenades again, and all that fun stuff. Reimu is the Eternal Shrine Maiden, after all.

Tweaked enemy AI: Besides the base game enemies being ported from Vampire Hunter, Reimu DLC's new adversaries had a few changes as well, not just sound effect-wise. Daiyousei can strafe and buzz back-and-forth to make herself harder to hit. Yuugi is much tankier, can charge at you -- and will deflect attacks while charging, and Nazrin is afraid of combat, choosing to run and hide upon seeing a threat (you), while using her crystal turrets to shield herself from danger.

Sounds: Since this is based on Vampire Hunter, much of the sound design was carried over. In addition to fairies twinkling, Wriggle buzzing, and Suika rattling, Reimu DLC's enemies are keen on making themselves heard, too; Yuugi stomps, Nazrin squeaks while her crystals hum, and even Daiyousei sounds a bit different from the other fairies.

You Can Now Play as Sakuya: Have you ever wanted to play through Reimu DLC as Sakuya? No? Were you ever curious? Still no? Ah... well, as an alternative to Funky Mode, Eternal Shrine Maiden introduces Sakuya Mode; allowing you to run through Reimu DLC's levels as Sakuya, with her Vampire Hunter arsenal relatively intact, besides some ammo-related changes and the absence of the Cirno doll. Stability, balance, and logic are not guaranteed!

This was more than a few weeks in the making, but it was definitely alot of fun to make. I hope you all enjoy playing it as well. Long live Touhou Doom!

@Reptid the thumbnail was decided before I'd even started working on the mod, lmao

@Ash I appreciate the kind words! it makes me glad to hear people enjoy playing this and VH as much as I enjoyed making them

Thanks for making this. Honestly Vampire Hunter was my preferred way of playing the original after trying it, so I was kind of hoping something like this would come out. Completed a full playthrough with it and had a great time.

oh well, figured it wouldn't hurt to ask anyway; and thank you (again)!

Unfortunately i only think about doing it, i didn't draw the reloading since the dev told me not to. But the edit you made is pretty close to it already

thank you! (I can't believe I have the artist's blessing despite the edits I made orz)
the weapons overall seemed like there was more in mind for them than what we got, so it's good to hear my intuition was atleast in the right place!
bit of a long-shot, but if possible, you wouldn't happen to have those reload animations just lying around, would you?
Heavy Artillery Man 13 Jan, 2023 @ 8:05am
Nice!! originally i intended to add reload animations for booth the launcher and the shotgun but since you never reload in the game i kinda left them out. I also made the grenade launcher's shooting animation with firing a grenade that have an arc in mind and is why it look like that. You are basically replicating my original ideas and turning it into real, good job!! im looking forward to try the mod out
