A Touhou FPS sounds really cool and all, but this game isn't really all that great.
Really the only thing I could really say is really good in this game is its artwork. The art is cute.

Everything else in this game isn't really that good however. The game's made in GZDoom, and it shows. I've seen some insanely well put together WADs for Doom, but this one isn't one of them. My first big complaint is that the base game is too easy, short, and the developer tried making it "hard" with enemy spamming the Hell out of the maps. Which shows how lazy it is. Most of the levels in this game are just giant square arenas that you can easily blow through. The only enemy I had an actual issue with was Rumia and even then I only died once throughout the entire game. The enemies do use danmaku from Touhou, but despite it being easy to dodge you won't really see much of it as enemies pretty much instantly die. I think adding some variety would've made it better. Like how Doom does it where different enemy types have different AI and attack using different projectiles. That would allow for the player to prioritize targets and think to survive. The enemies here are all pretty much the same besides different shooting patterns and with Rumia being a melee. More variety for the game could be more fun for the player.

The levels themselves, like I stated before, are very short and I feel unimpressed by them. I give it the benefit of the doubt as this may have been the developer's first time making a game like this and could be new to this sort of thing. In that case, good job jumping into something new, but you could use some advice and practice for sure. The levels feel incredibly bland as you go through halls and rooms that all pretty much look the same minus like maybe two parts that had some decent setpieces in the DLC, but the DLC had a different mapper as far as I'm aware. That maps felt empty. Not like a cash grab, but more just for the sake of having the novelty of, "it's a Touhou FPS game!" A final note, a bunch of the levels feel like they should be put together into larger levels that connect to each other. I saw the Doom level complete screen more than I think I should have.

The game's story, to put it nicely, sucks and barely exists. I feel as though the story of this game belongs more in something like a gamejam VN, and even in that case it wouldn't be the best in said gamejam. The game's ending is also extremely just...bad. There's no real build-up to the ending, and it just kinda hits you and it'll leave you wanting more. Way more. The quality of the story was not great either, and, to put it as nicely as I possibly can, feels like something an edgy teen would write on Wattpad back in 2014. It really could've gone without a story and I think that'd be an improvement on the game.

The weapons in the game don't really feel right to me. As nitpicky as it may sound, the weapons feel like they're either overpowered or underwhelming. The pistol shoots as fast as you can spam your mouse which would just destroy everything in an instant. The shotgun's altfire breaks the game where you can fire three single shots then use the normal fire and get seven shots out before having to reload on a quadbarrel shotgun. The Cirno Fumo I used like once, and never felt good to use as it's got a very low ammo count you burn through very fast for underwhelming damage. The fumo is good for piercing, but if you use the shotgun or pistol spam you don't even need it. The knives are straight up broken for the normal enemies. They bounce off walls and just make everything trivial. Not as much ammo, but it's still a lot that lets you spam and just melt through the empty rooms of tons of copy-pasted enemy hoards. The time stop is something I think was super underdone. I thought it'd be a super interesting mechanic that could be put into level design for finding secrets or doing puzzles, but it was reduced to a "weapon" that feels the most underwhelming out of all the weapons in the game. It also doesn't help how you have so few of them. I'm not asking to allow it to be spammed with as much ammo as you get with the other weapons, but I don't know I thought it'd be interesting to have it on a cooldown based on time or enemies killed. I've seen that kind of thing done before with WADs, and it would've fit nicely here. The last big issue I had was with the game's ammo system. To put it simply, infinite ammo. The game gives you THOUSANDS of rounds for the pistol and shotgun at the start of every level so you will actually just never run out of ammo for those. The fumo runs out really fast, and is the only weapon you can find some sort of ammo pickup for. Even then, it just isn't worth using. The knives you get hundreds, and the timestop you get one per level pretty much. Pickups would've allowed for at least some variety in using weapons and even the level design. Instead of having these empty rooms full of a giant hoard of enemies you just destroy, have a room with more parts that can be used for cover with ammo pickups around and lower max ammo so the player has to actually make a strategy to get through it.

Music in the game is fine I guess, although it felt hollow in how it sounded. The music doesn't loop so you have it ending and starting again repeatedly. The music also isn't BAD, but isn't good.

The game also has boss fights, that are honestly a letdown. The bosses have simple attack patterns and you can just pistol spam them really fast and they melt. Even Flandre where you can just make trivial and obliterate in less than a minute. What makes it worse is that no boss in the game gets her own special arena. It's always just a small circle arena that you strafe through and spam to win. Very uninteresting.

The game's DLC is pretty different. Firstly, the art difference I mentioned earlier where the two styles mix together. That's not bad to me, but I thought it was something to point out. There's also a different mapper and it shows, and the maps are still not good. Playing through the DLC felt like a slog to get through with maps that felt giant and empty. It also shows how they went for enemy spamming to be "hard". This DLC throws HOARDS of enemies at you sometimes, and guess where, giant empty areas! I will give it credit for something, the DLC does add in a few new enemies. These enemies, however, are still pathetic as Nazrin puts down little turrets that can be broken instantly and Daiyousei is just like the normal fairy enemies but shoots a triple shot. Yuugi I don't even know what she does as I obliterated her before anything could happen. There's also new weapons to replace the old one, but there's less total. The gohei I only used once and never again as it felt completely unreliable to use. The shotgun was automatic, but I also never used it. What made this DLC super easy was the grenade launcher weapon. Not only does it have like infinite ammo, but it OBLITERATES everything and is fully automatic. It doesn't help how you're just immune to killing yourself so you can really just spam it to Hell. The game spawns in a massive wave of faires, and I just shoot one with the launcher and they all die. It's way too overpowered. The levels, I think, had an improvement in how they look, but in gameplay it's the same empty enemy spam as before but with levels that feel like they go on for way too long and eventually I just wanted it to be over. The one boss in the DLC, Sakuya, was stupid. They did give her timestop, and that sounds awesome, make the fight interesting, but Sakuya spams it, a LOT, and it's not like where she freezes time and does a special move or anything. She'll freeze time, do nothing, unfreeze time, and repeat super fast and it eventually actually just broke the game's sound with how fast she was doing it. I'm not kidding, with how much she was spamming it, the sound just stopped working. At least make it interesting and not stupid like that.

As much as I want to like this game, and despite its abundance in charm, it's a bit ridiculous that you have to pay $10 for what is quite literally a DOOM II mod, that has less enemy variety, levels, and weapons than even the original DOOM. If it were a built-from-scratch throwback shooter, like, say, Warhammer 40K: Boltgun, I'd like it a lot more.
