There is some delay to landing gear controller as well to ignore pilot error so after you flipped the switch to ON (point downward) the three green lights should start blinking and become steady on when the gears are down and locked/ready.
My landing gear controller has basic protection against rapid flipping of the switch and has stateful door control and gear control.
However, both landing gears switches spawn as "UP" (off/red) so you should flip the one at the seat as soon as you get in to "DOWN" (on/green) even I believe my safety feature should not gear up until you got airborne.
