[WOTC] Aliens: Colonial Marines Armor

Description
FEATURES:

This humble mod adds all (okay, most) of the armor customization options from Aliens: Colonial Marines, and also expands on the original selections. As a result, the following is available for both genders:

  • M3 Helmets in 7 different color variations including the 5 armor patterns from the game (with physics for the chin straps and armor plates on the back)

  • M3 Helmet customization options, such as goggles, cards, or cigarettes

  • Head Mounted Sight variants, including a helmet mounted version

  • M3 Pattern Armor, with options for individual arms, combined arms, torsos with and without shoulder straps (in case you're still using the old version of Character Pool Uniforms), as well as many color variations that include the 5 armor patterns from the game and the 4 clothing patterns. Shoulder straps used in conjunction with the strapless variations of the torsos will allow you to customize your marine's strap loadouts, from pouches, grenades, ammo, or knives.
Additionally includes your choice of shoulder lamp for each torso.

  • Torso decals, belts, and leg gear can also be customized as in the original game.

  • M56 Combat Harness with options for shoulder lamps for each torso, as well as color variations including the 4 clothing patterns from the game.

Total customization options are too vast for me to really go into completely. Definitely check it out for yourselves! There are a TON of options, and the customization is even better when you mix in parts from other mods to allow you to truly create some unique looking marines!

REQUIREMENTS:

I'll be honest, I have no freaking idea. The listed requirements are my best guess.

CREDITS:

Models are owned by Gearbox, rights for anything related to Alien and Aliens are owned by 20th Century Studios, Inc (I'm guessing this does extend to A:CM now, if not they're still owned by Fox).

Thanks to the following individuals, who in some way helped me learn a thing or two about modding as I worked on this project:

Ginger
robojumper™
SBGC Jammer
Ninja Nub
shiremct
RealityMachina
E3245
Musashi
Puma
RustyDios
Sputnik Monroe

While all of these individuals did not necessarily help with this particular Armor Mod, they did help in some way with future mods that are a part of this larger project. Without them, this mod would not have come about. More on that later™!

UPDATE:

Thanks to Sputnik Monroe for editing the config so this mod will no longer require unrestricted customization. I 100% smoothbrain’d on that.

UPDATE 12/21/2020:

Fixed some mesh issues, added a couple of additional options, fixed config issues that would result in people being unable to equip helmets without selecting one of the M3 torsos first.

UPDATE 2/20/2023:

Wow, 3 years! Who'da thought I'd update this after 3 years? Alright, here's what we've got:

FIXED CONTENT:

  • Shin deco moved to line up with the straps. Original positioning was "game-accurate" but I don't think that was "accurate-accurate".
  • Some colors have been adjusted in both camo and non-camo directions. If you're one of the folks who complained about the black being blue, this is for you.
  • All tiers should be present and Unrestricted Customization shouldn't be a requirement anymore.

NEW CONTENT:

  • Drake's hat has been added, colorable primary, colorable secondary, flat black, forwards and backwards. Compatible with all headset flavors, fun fact!
  • Added non-tintable arms, legs, and torsos with every possible A:CM pattern combination if you want to get super legit. The A1C1 variants are the classic LV426 patterns for both clothing and armor, nudge nudge wink wink.
  • Added armor pattern variants for the M56 Combat Harness torsos.

BUGS:

There may be some clipping issues with Drake's hat. These were meant to be released with the original mod way back in the day, but weren't because they required a lot of knobdicking for both male and female versions, not to mention front and back. I'd say these are 95% good to go, though you may experience some clipping here and there. I won't fix these problems because these hats have been a massive pain enough as it is. The most egregious issues should be thoroughly solved though.

There may also be an incorrect name for two of the torsos. Everything checks out in the localization file, so I'm chalking it up to a config error on my end and hoping for the best. If you see it on your end, congrats, I have no idea how to fix it. Uhhhhh good luck.

Does this mod not show in the Firaxis Mod Launcher?
Download the Alternative Mod Launcher today!

This mod does not appear in the Firaxis Mod Launcher. No fix is in progress, I'm going to ignore this issue.

The alternative mod launcher is better in every way. Here's a link:

After applying the mod some of my soldiers had randomly stuff applied from your mod.
Or rather: their stock armor was partially and randomly being replaced with some parts.
Plus: i wasn't able to remove parts i added to "arms" and "legs" but had to swith to another armor to reset the equipped gear (sans the firearms of course).

I just removed the mod from being an active mod in the Alternative Launcher and now soldiers who had gear from your mod equipped are partially invisible; only their head and weapon(s) can be seen.

If i switch to, say, a Grenadiert armor from the Tactical Legacy Pack, the soldier will be rendered completely normal.
If i switch back to Warden armour: again they are partially invisible.

I guess i could reset my Config folder.
But i've changed some stats some two weeks ago in the ini files (building cost, research times, stat points gained per level up) and wouldn't want to change them all over again.

How's it messing with your soldiers, btw? Are they randomly deforming or something?

Hi,

thank you for the quick reply!
Really appreciate it!

I'm using the Alternative Launcher.
And yeah it could be any of the other mods but yours is one the last ones i've installed so i'm just ruling things out.

But it's a fantastic mod!
The models and details are amazing!

"existing soldiers have the missing part replaced with a random one"
That was the answer i was hoping for, thank you.
But since i've installed some voice packs and a model the Pulse Rifle i really wanna keep your mod.

Well i'm gonna find out.

Again, thank you!

It shouldn't mess anything up to remove though, when cosmetic mods are removed, existing soldiers have the missing part replaced with a random one

Which launcher
Arthur Pendragon 5 Jun @ 1:36pm
I think this mod is messing a bit with my soldiers at the equipment / customize screen.
Which i wan to test by (temporarily) disabling the mod.

Is it safe to disable it from the launcher or will it corrupt my save?
(maybe some of my soldiers still have gear attached from this mod)

Awesome mod dude easily one of the best on here. You got any plans on doing the weapons?

I've removed my previous comment on the subject because I had a piece of information wrong. On my end, my mod does not show up in the Firaxis Mod Launcher. That being said, it DOES show up in the Alternate Mod Launcher. So, what am I going to be doing about this issue?

Nothing. The Firaxis Mod Launcher needs a priest, not me. Use the AML. I'm not going to fix this issue because it's way above my pay grade and I don't care about the FML.

Hmmm... If anyone finds out how to get the mod to show in the launcher, please let me know.
