Description
Alliances Expanded bring you four new alliance types and generally overhauled alliance levelling. Invest actively in your alliance progression to become everone's darling and reap great benefits.

Diplomacy Compatibility Patch probably needed to avoid issues with certain UI mods (see below for more info).

Features
  • Four new alliance types: Industrial, Maritime, Urban, Espionage (see image for detailed list of rewards).
  • New ways to gain alliance points to make levelling alliances more interactive and also upgrade them sligtly faster on average.
  • Flavor names for all alliances.
  • City Parks can now be unlocked for your whole empire through alliances. Their yields have been slightly adjusted.
  • New promotion for the governor Liang, the Surveyor as compensation.
  • Added a lot more AI leader preferences for various types of alliances matching their unique bonuses.
Requires Gathering Storm.

How to Level Up Your Alliances
This mod overhauls how points for levelling up alliances are earned. There are no more fractions of points. The requirements are now 480 points for level 2 and 1440 points for level 3, which is a 50% increase. However, there are also a lot more ways to earn points now.

In general, an alliance levels up with the points from both civilizations in it. This means that if both partners have the Wisselbanken policy slotted for example, the alliance will receive the bonus twice.

All alliances gain 1 point per turn by default. Beyond that, points can be earned the following ways:
  • +1 point per Government Tier
  • +1 point if you are in a Normal Age, +2 in a Golden Age
  • +1 point if you are at peace with all civilizations
  • +2 points if you have a trade route to your ally
  • +1 point if you are at war with a common enemy
  • +1 point from Wisselbanken policy
  • +1 point from Democracy government
  • +1 point from Foreign Ministry (Level 2 Government Plaza building)
  • +2 points from Statue of Liberty
  • CLEOPATRA ONLY: extra +1 point if you have a trade to your ally, an extra +1 point if you have a trade route from your ally
  • GILGAMESH ONLY: extra +2 points if you are at war with a common enemy

Incompatibilities
This mod can sometimes conflict with mods changing the deal screen (where you make trades with other leaders), such as Quick Deals for example. Use this compatibility patch to prevent issues where the new alliance types cannot be selected.

Today I decided to test this mod. I made a city-building alliance with one of my neighbors. At first, everything seemed to be fine. But on a certain turn, the alliance icon on the ally's icon disappeared, and an attempt to skip a turn or click on the icon of my faction ends with a complete interface glitch. I see the picture, but I can't do anything. I can only exit to the main menu or completely exit the game. Before installing the alliance mod, everything was fine.

It increases the total to 9.

Does this make it possible to have 9 total alliances, or are you still set to 5 alliances but it gives more options?

I don't know if I've mentioned this here before, but I probably have. I'm looking for a mod or waiting for the creation (development) of a higher alliance option called "unification." This is supposed to be a one-time option (to avoid overuse) to unite two countries and summon a unique governor, the "royal couple," or, if Kros is so inclined, a set of changes to specific leaders as governors. In many cases, annexing another territory without a fight would be welcomed (unlikely due to culture).

For those having trouble click the modded alliances, try choosing a vanilla alliance (military, cultural, religious, economic, research) and click on the alliance in the trade screen. There will be a menu of all the alliances including the modded ones. Select one and complete the deal. Works without any compatibility patch for me.

Didn't change anything, might be an incompatible UI mod. There's a compatibility patch for it.
