[WOTC] Reinforced Underlay Plus

Description
What is this?
This mod exposes the Purifier Autopsy 'Reinforced Underlay Breakthrough' to the whims of config.

The breakthrough really doesn't do much and is generally like every other breakthrough, fire and forget. However weapon breakthrough's at least show the bonuses in the shot HUD wings, the Underlay Breakthrough has no further reminders that you've done it.

This mod aims to correct that by giving you a Passive Icon during tactical that reminds you if a unit has an item granting the breakthrough. It can also sweep every 'defense' item in your game that the breakthrough applies to and adds an icon to the Armoury load out.

The default game has this breakthrough set to give a useless +1 HP. I have changed this in the config files to instead give a +1 Ablative/Shield HP. It's neat that it applies to every 'defense' item.
The config however has options for you to make this breakthrough give whatever you want from the following options;

Config Options
  • Health
  • Aim
  • Mobility
  • Will
  • Dodge
  • Defense
  • Hack
  • Psionic Offense
  • Crit Chance
  • Flanking Crit Chance
  • Flanking Aim
  • Sight Radius
  • Armour Pips
  • Ablative / Shields
  • Icons On/Off

Known Issues
The mod negates this entry in the default configs of XComGameCore.ini;
[XComGame.X2Ability_XPackAbilitySet] PURIFIER_AUTOPSY_VEST_HEALTH_BONUS=1.0

Compatibility
Should be safe to add mid-campaign, strategy save. Maybe not mid-tactical.

The mod likely pairs nicely with other stat change mods for configuring 'individual' items, like;
Armour and Vest Config , Iridars Defensive Items Overhaul , Tesla's Ablative Vests

Should work with the RM Synthoids that adds 1 HP and 2 shield HP to all 'defense' items.
Works with Useful Purifier Autopsies
Works with CX Purifier Revamp
Works with Lago's Research Rework
Works with Tesla's Armour Modules

Works in Covert Infiltration, LWotC and RPGO settings

Overrides the function run on completion of the Purifier Autopsy that gives the breakthrough bonus, doesn't break anything that I know of... bug reports welcome.

Should be fine as long as long as LWotC doesn't adjust the Purifier Breakthrough

Hi. Is it LWOTC compatible? Thanks.

Preliminary glance .. it should be fine. Reinforced Underlay is a very special "breakthrough" you get from doing the Purifier Autopsy and applies it's own bonus to any "defence" utility items.

Armour Breakthroughs are the standard per-tier breakthroughs you get for normal armour (Light [Kevlar/Predator/Warden], Medium [Spider, Wraith], Heavy [Exo, WAR]), so they affect a different aspect of the game.

((Categories may be misleading as I can't recall 100% what is in each one, but it gets my point across))

How does this other older mod interact with Reinforced Underlay Plus?
Armor Breakthroughs Increase Armor

Hmm, an interesting concept. I will consider it.

Could you make a similar mod to this one that alters the breakthroughs for standard armors?
RustyDios  [author] 11 Mar, 2021 @ 12:59am
It's a weird 'breakthrough' as it is done by the Purifier Autopsy, not it's own research tech.
so "givetech AutopsyAdventPurifier" should have you get this too
