[OUTDATED - NEW VERSION IN DESCRIPTION] [ 2.6.x ] - Improved Hyperlanes and Fog of War

Description
NEW VERSION CAN BE FOUND HERE: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3229378253

What this mod does:
  • Makes hyperlane generation more strategic.

  • Reduces hyperspace speed and increases hyperdrive windup / winddown time.

  • Makes the fog of war completely opaque - You cannot see anything in unexplored areas.

  • Makes nebula names invisible.

  • New Galaxy sizes designed for use with this mod.

Details:

Hyperspace:
  • Hyperspace travel speed reduced to 10% of vanilla value. It can now take a few weeks or longer for ships to travel across a hyperlane, depending on their length.

  • Hyperdrive windup increased from 15 days to 50 days, and a 25 day winddown added.

  • There are numerous ways to improve hyperspace travel speed and reduce windup / winddown.

New starbase buildings:
  • Jump Coordination Center
    • Reduces ship windup and winddown by 100%.
    • Cost: 500 energy, 250 alloys
    • Upkeep: 4 energy
    • Build time: 360 days
  • System Navigation Complex
    • Increases ship sublight speed by 200%.
    • Cost: 500 energy, 250 alloys
    • Upkeep: 4 energy
    • Build time: 360 days
  • System Navicomputer
    • Reduces ship windup and winddown by 100%, increases ship sublight speed by 250%.
    • Cost: 1000 energy, 500 alloys
    • Upkeep: 5 energy
    • Build time: 720 days
    • Requires tech: Positronic AI
    • Buffs do not stack with Jump Coordination Center or System Navigation Complex.

New starship:
  • Hyperspace Conduit
    • Increases Hyperspace speed of fleet by 1000%.
    • Cost: 500 alloys
    • Upkeep: 5 energy
    • 10 fleet size
    • Should always disengage if it has the opportunity to.

New Hyperspace Techs:
  • Hyperdrive Modulation
    • 5 tiers, rare technology
    • increases hyperspace travel speed by 30% per level (150% total)
    • Each level requires the equivalent tier in Hyperdrive, Power Plant, and Sensor tech (for example, Hyperdrive Modulation IV requires Jump Drive, Antimatter Power Plants, and Sensors 4).

New Hyperdrive Stats:
  • Hyperdrive I
    • 50 day windup
    • 25 day winddown
    • Normal hyperspace speed (0.10 vanilla value).
  • Hyperdrive II
    • 40 day windup
    • 20 day winddown
    • Normal hyperspace speed (0.10 vanilla value).
  • Hyperdrive III
    • 30 day windup
    • 15 day winddown
    • Normal hyperspace speed (0.10 vanilla value).
  • Jump Drive
    • No windup
    • 30 day winddown
    • +50% hyperspace speed (0.15 vanilla value)
    • Jump functionality removed
  • Psi Jump Drive
    • No windup
    • 15 day winddown
    • +100% hyperspace speed (0.20 vanilla value)
    • Jump functionality removed
      • A Psi drive with all Hyperdrive Modulation techs will have +250% hyperspace speed (0.35 of vanilla speed).

Galaxy Changes. See screenshots for reference:
  • No Clustered Starts mod is fully integrated. Be sure to set "Empire Placement" to "Clusters".

  • Nebula minimum distance removed, size increased, and number of nebulas increased. Nebula names are now invisible.

  • Hyperdrive windup time no longer increases outside of your territory.

  • Hyperlanes now have more chokepoints, branches, and loops. There are two hyperlane density settings that I would recommend using.
    • 1.0x - More linear generation. Good for chokepoints and defensive play.
    • 1.25x - Similar to above, but more connections results in "islands" that plays much better and allows for more strategic gameplay, in my opinion. I would recommend using this setting.
  • Fog of war is now completely opaque - You cannot see anything in unexplored areas, including hyperlanes.

  • Galaxies now have stars in the core. I would recommend using a mod to reduce the brightness of the core, such as EG* - Dimmer Core or Enhanced Galaxy - Dark Core.

  • Galaxy has been flattened and star pins removed to make it less cluttered.

New Galaxy Sizes designed for this mod. Be sure to use one of these!
  • IHAFOW S (1000 stars)
  • IHAFOW M (1500 stars) (Recommended)
  • IHAFOW L (2000 stars)

Other changes from the pre-2.0 version:
  • Tachyonic Particles removed. They will return in my Stellar Resources mod when I eventually update it.

  • Nebula travel speed penalty removed. One of the reasons why I ended up tweaking the windup, windown, and hyperspace speed numbers. Blame Paradox for removing this really useful setting.

Agreed on Keeping Fog of War after meeting others.

Now if only there was a way to restore/keep Fog of War over empires you've encountered so the entire galaxy doesn't light up the moment you meet the galactic community...

Yep.
