Or at least make this game running decently on modern Op-systems and machines.

John Wick 1.0, the OG, The 3rdPS noir

True gem, even if rough on the edges and not running on Unreal Engine ( :

PS: Too bad it's a real hell to get it working these days. Somehow this version is still sold on Steam..

Otherwise nice and playable, but what happened to expansions!? Typical Ubisoft BS, unfinished and abandoned.

Go to GOG.com if you need full game :) HD and other quality of life updates not included tho, need to get the mods.

--- Rest in Peace, the voice (and face) of Max Payne, James Perry McCaffrey (March 27, 1958 – December 17, 2023) ---

Decent game by Rockstars, with usual movie like cinematic presentation and catching story and smooth level design. Besides unskippable cutscenes encountered in later playthroughs - if you are into grinding achies, skins and trying out different modes and difficulty levels, there is little that can be complained about at first glance for a game of that kind. Well - maybe the lines from main character's voice narrating seem also a bit too pessimistic eventually, even if sharp and sarcastic at the same time, however don't forget who this character is and what his past has been..

Game takes you from the districts in NY, where "certain individuals of Italian heritage" reign the streets, to the South-America, where gangs, favelas, jungle and football get mixed in a volatile (but nevertheless expensive) cocktail and the common element in all of them is our good old Max. The final chapter of his story. Pretty fine and relaxing entertainment for few spare evenings.

PS: I'd also like to recommend two first games in the series (made by Finnish game developers Remedy Entertainment), which even after all these years are IMO still worth checking out, if you like film noir genre with some bullet time shootout action. You just need to get those up and running on modern OP-systems..

"You can run on for a long time, run on for a long time -
Sooner or later God'll cut you down.
Go tell that long-tongued liar,
Go and tell that midnight rider,
Tell the rambler the gambler, the back biter -
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down"

As for the review itself, nothing new after all these years obviously, just my 2 cents:
I'm not sure about the game of the year reward, there are lots of clunky details in both horse and even character movement. Looting animations with every dead or knocked out person are taking 1/5 of playtime eventually and crafting items one by one while having to watch the animations every time and doing chores without able to even sometimes jog/run or use a wheelbarrow is very mind-numbing. Epilogue with a full new state area feels kind of empty. Can imagine why, but it is nevertheless empty. And honour system feels like a joke when one can raise it simply by greeting every other joker in town like some happy-go-lucky Disney character and getting good karma for it. Like, what?

Other than that its really a decent game and the story feels very strong and entertaining, more serious than GTA analogues, the world and its environment have tons of detail and historical background and even had me look into the 19th century US, documentaries about the Wild West era and its people of the time - yes, other than glorified criminals and gunslingers as well, mind you.
Not a perfect game, but pretty good nevertheless, and as for the story (yes it is pretty line, I'd say it is worth playing even for those who aren't Rockstar's games' fanboys/fangirls or are getting alarmed, if they go near something that is even a little bit of a shooter. Don't worry, bullet time (dead eye) will work it you for you, its going to be allright. Try it out.

PS: And yes, as for online version, goes same as in GTAO: stay away from it, unless you have bunch of good friends to play with and you can make a workaround from cheating moders OR if you are one yourself - some young punk who doesn't care or know better and is just bored and derping around while messing it up for everyone else - good for you, kid.

In short: game feels like Fallout 4 but now its online.

Yay? Well, they have included some obvious online-game aspects, wouldn't expect less - especially after all the artifical hype and advertising.. But it all still feels a little bit lacking, especially from a company such as Bethesda. 16 times more detail, right? Can you please tell me where? 6 times, maybe. Not 16.

Well, for a (larger) discount its worth trying it out; its decent with friends and the community is surprisingly nice. Developers are hearing the players out, they have added more content, even have roadmaps and whatnot. New content costs ofc. "First, they create the problem - then sell you the solution"

It finally has NPC's with actual quests and more or less different things to do - though many of those aspects suffer from cliche-MMO-illnesses like the lack of choice, no perceptible outcome, no phasing.. feels like 2000's.
And then there are of course bugs, lag spikes and crashes. Not too often, but often enough.

PS: I hope all those pre-order and collector's edition folk learned their lesson from another shining example, yes?

Don't buy a 40 euro Early-Access game so eagerly, no matter how tempting it might seem.
