It's definitely not Hawken like I remember it, There are 6 mechs total, and they're pretty much just 2 variants of 3. It's not bad, but I'm hoping to hop into an incinerator and torch a whole battle royale. I really enjoyed the original hawken and I was pretty sad when it left steam. I hope this might pick up some of the pieces and get a microwave with legs back in the game

Take 4 cups of Fallout 4
Add 1 cup No Man's Sky
Add 1/2 cup X4
Mix for 5 years.
Frost liberally with Mass Effect

The outpost system is hot garbage, the cargo links can only link to one outpost at a time. The storage is so small it's ludicrous, the reality is you're better off storing everything on your ship. The buildable area isn't very large and some of the buildables are huge. Constant clipping issues where surface elements like trees and rocks pop through the habs and make everything unusable.

Apartments are super buggy as of 9/21.

The ship parts you need most are level locked instead of skill locked. You bust your way through the top tier skills and......hardly anything is available, and what is available is kinda crap. Early on it's better to just keep capturing ships.

Someone dropped the ball on weight. Ship modules weigh kilos. No not thousands of kilos, kilos. The first ship weighs less than my car. It's not a dealbreaker but it's super weird. Same with credits. The ship pricing is kinda just scaled with weapon pricing. The first time you steal a ship, see that 500,000 price tag and get.....3k for it, soulcrushing.

The more you play the more you see that it's a direct port of Fallout 4 with a spaceship game attached. Maybe it'll get smoothed out.

Oh and someone made a choice to not have a minimap. It's incredibly annoying.

Edit:
The game lacks staying power. There really isn't anything to find. The characters are moderately annoying. The random encounters just repeat. Even the main plot is just dull and kinda pulled out of a fishbowl of random Sci-fi tropes. The only thing that was really fun was ship building, and the inability to customize the inside of your ship kinda made that not have staying power too.

This game has promise but it's also extremely frustrating. There are bugs that appear and disappear randomly, maybe because of lag I don't know, the system requirements are ridiculous.

I would like to have the exploration ships explore nearby systems instead of making a B line to the other end of the universe. OR to be able to set them to survey a specific system instead of just one planet in that system.

1 minute after starting this, I realized they had spent more time on boob physics than making a fun game.

Pretty fun town builder. Kinda weird locale. Everything screams Europe, except the buffalo and north american badgers.

I bought this, I have to finish at least one game now. It's not great. It's a lesser version of other 4x games, There is no real combined system production so each individual planet kinda has to do it's own thing. There is ship capturing, which is kinda neat but could be done better. The fleet battles are.......extremely tedious. There are far better options. Sorry :(

After some more time in: Mech customization, pretty ok, the variants add some needed variety, but the crab only having 4 weapon slots sucks.

Looting: This really really really blows. You fight a mission carefully headshotting that one badass mech and boom sorry you only have 1/3 of the salvage shares you need, You must be dating house davion, while fighting in a storm of lava, while your merc rating is 70 to be able to salvage that atlas.

Lancemates: As bad as the enemy AI. Which is pretty bad. Mostly there to distract other units from your mech.

Big Con: The sound track is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ terrible. Like 14 year old that just discovered the worst metal ever terrible. Like the nickleback of numetal. Like the grateful dead of linkin park covers. It's bad.

I haven't had any crashes but, it's kind of boring. The grind for upgrades is HUGE. The grind just to unlock the engineers is super long, even in perfect circumstances, It adds something that was needed for a while, mainly a way to get to your ships scattered all over. But....it's a bit boring. Even the ground conflicts are a bit boring, just run to point A, then to point B, then to point A, then to point B. The weapons are set up like ships weapons, the one sniper is plasma and the projectile is so slow, you can just walk out of the way, really the only weapon that is super useful is the rocket launcher. So I guess it's fun, for a bit but grinding new weapon upgrades is just so much of a pain is it worth it?

Edit: The Scorpion. Worst gun ever. You can't hit a Type 9 while sitting on top of it. So incredibly frustrating. Having your corvette get beaten up by a tiny dude in a suit, kinda stupid. Also the retrieve from crashsite missions are so bugged it's a 50/50 chance the item isn't there.

Remember X Rebirth? Yeah it's X Rebirth. The things that made the series fun have kind of disappeared, No more ship capturing, no more fly all the ships.

Without ship capturing you are stuck with "Bartender missions" which aren't much fun and random encounters which are pretty un random to make a buck. There is a huge focus on crafting now but the mining system in the game has always been pretty bad so it's not super fun.

You're stuck in one ship until you can fly a "Capital". Which is just any ship other than the gunship you're stuck in. The modular ship upgrades are kind of neat but you still just have that one little ship.

If you've never played the other games, it might be worth buying, as long as you realize it's a long crawl fighter game. Otherwise maybe skip this one and go play warlords.
